Tara stared mindlessly at the TV while some old movie played, she tried flipping through the channels, but the hospital was already limited and there seemed to be nothing on. Tara kept checking her phone, waiting for a text that said you were on the way. It had been twenty minutes since you had last texted her, but she wasn’t worried yet, she figured you were probably just getting out of the shower, and she’d receive a text any minute.
She quickly grabbed her phone a minute later when she felt it vibrate. She frowned when she saw it wasn’t you calling but her sister. She knew she’d have to talk to Sam at some point, she had definitely cooled off since their last conversation. She wasn’t even mad anymore, she didn’t care who Sam’s birth father was, she couldn’t believe Sam never said anything though, Tara would have been there for her. She was honestly just happy Sam was still in town, as angry as you were, you said Sam got Dewey involved and they were both at Mindy’s, Sam hadn’t bailed yet when she easily could have.
“Hello?” Tara answered the phone.
“Look, I know you don’t want to speak to me right now,” Sam said softly.
“It’s fine, I’m just-”
“Tara something happened,” Sam cut her off. Tara sat up in the bed, ignoring the pain in her side. Sam hadn’t said anything yet and she could already feel her heart trying to beat out of her chest. “Y/N was attacked.”
Tara shook her head, tears already filling her eyes. “No,” she whispered. It wasn’t possible, she had just talked to you, you were at your apartment, you had just met up with everyone else, there was no way you could have been attacked.
“They’re alive.” Tara let out a relieved breath which sounded more like a sob. Alive was good, alive was all that mattered, she didn’t know how extensive your injuries were though. Tara had survived and she had been stabbed several times and had her leg broken, she had no idea what condition you were in. “We’re on the way to the hospital now.” Tara could only nod, she couldn’t find the words to speak. “I’ll be right there.”
Tara wasn’t sure how long it was after she got off the phone with Sam before she saw her sister walking through the door. She knew it had probably only been a few minutes, but it felt like hours. When Sam finally walked through the door Tara shot up, wincing at the quick movement.
“Hey, take it easy,” Sam said, rushing to her bedside.
“Are they okay?” Tara asked. “What happened?” Tara searched Sam’s face for any signs of something bad.
“They’re okay,” Sam rested a gentle hand on Tara’s shoulder, easing her back down onto the pillow. “They’re getting stitched up right now.” Tears quickly filled Tara’s eyes again. “It was just a cut on their arm.” Tara let out a shaky breath, a cut was probably the best injury one could get from Ghostface. “And they have a concussion, they were already out before we arrived.”
“I-I have to go,” Tara looked around, trying to figure out how she’d make this work. “I have to see them,” her eyes landed on the wheelchair, widening slightly. She didn’t like the wheelchair, but it would have to do.
“No, you’re staying here.” Sam put her hand on Tara’s shoulder, keeping her from trying to push off the bed.
Tara instantly flicked a glare at her sister. “I need to be there for them.”
“They’re okay,” Sam tried to say as calmly as possible. “Right now, they’re unconscious, there’s nothing you can do anyway.”
“I have to be there when they wake up!” Tara snapped, her voice cracking. “They were right there when I first woke up,” she looked up at her sister through tear filled eyes. “They were the first person I saw, and the relief…” she let out a breath, when her eye landed on you, she knew no one would ever hurt her again. “Please,” she begged. “I don’t want them to be alone.”
“How about I go?” Sam suggested softly. Tara couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at her sister, she never expected Sam to sit at your bedside and wait for you to wake up. “I’m serious, I can go and when they wake up, I’ll come tell you. Besides, Gale and Dewey should be there, they’re the ones I rode with.”
Tara let out a chuckle, she smiled until she realized Sam was serious. “Yeah, because the person who doesn’t like her,” she gestured to Sam. “The guy who has arrested her more than once,” she gestured to the door, “and some random stranger is so much better to wake up to than your girlfriend.”
Sam frowned at Tara’s words. She wasn’t wrong, if she had woken up with anyone at her bedside besides you, she wouldn’t have been happy. She didn’t think any of her friends would have given her the instant comfort you did. The only person she felt completely safe next to besides you, was Sam.
“You can barely move,” Sam said gently. “Please, you know Y/N wouldn’t want you to, knowing it would cause you more discomfort.”
Tara looked down at her blanket, silently pouting. If it weren’t for the fact that she was stabbed through the hand and any sort of movement caused her excruciating pain, she would have crossed her arms. “Fine,” she mumbled.
Sam let out a relieved sigh and finally took her hand off Tara’s shoulder, seeming to assume she wouldn’t try leaving the bed again. “Do you need anything before I go down there?”
Tara shook her head. “Thank you, for doing this.”
Sam just smiled at her words then leaned forward, placing a kiss on the top of Tara’s head before making her way out of the room. Tara sighed, dropping her head back against the pillow, she didn’t know what she was supposed to do until you woke up, it’s not like her mind could focus on anything but your safety now. She decided to grab her phone and send a quick text to Liv to tell her what happened. Liv might have been more Tara’s friend than yours, but she still cared about you, and she would want to know what happened. It was only a few minutes later that Tara received a text from Liv that she was on her way.
Tara went back to watching whatever was on the TV. She tried to actually focus on the movie and not on worrying about you. You had been attacked, but you were alive, you were in the same building as her, you were safe, she just hadn’t seen you yet. As much as she tried to focus on the movie, she couldn’t help but look at her phone every two minutes, waiting to see if there was an update from Sam on you.
Tara’s door opened after what felt like hours later. She knew not that much time could have passed considering the same movie was playing but a second had never felt longer in her life. She sat up straighter when she saw her friends all pile into the room.
“Hey,” Tara said. She couldn’t help but scrunch her eyebrows as she saw them shuffling into the room. Chad, Mindy, and Wes kept their eyes on the floor. Amber and Liv seemed to be the only ones willing to look Tara in the eye.
The group, specifically Amber and Mindy, disagreed with Liv a lot. Even if they all got along, most group activities involved an argument between Liv and one, if not both, of them. Liv was outwardly glaring at Mindy though, more than Tara had ever seen.
“Everything okay?” Tara asked slowly, glancing from Liv to Mindy.
“No,” Liv snapped. “We just got back from visiting Y/N.”
“Wha-what happened? Are they okay?” Tara sat up in her bed.
“They’re fine,” Amber said, waving her hand.
“Fine isn’t exactly the word I’d use to describe them right now,” Liv shot a glare at Amber.
Tara furrowed her brow. “What happened?”
“Let’s just say it seems Sam isn’t the only one with family secrets,” Amber smirked.
“Can someone just tell me what the fuck happened?” Tara snapped. You clearly weren’t okay, something happened after her friends visited you and Liv seemed to be the only one that cared.
Everyone flicked a scared glance at Tara, all of them clearly too afraid to answer her. Tara rolled her eyes and was about to snap at them again when the door opened again. She snapped her eyes to the door, her gaze softening when she saw it was Sam.
“What’s going on?” Sam asked slowly.
“I don’t know,” Tara snapped. “They were just about to tell me what happened with Y/N.” Sam’s eyes shot to the floor, making Tara furrow her brow again, her sister also knew what happened.
“Hey!” Richie said, popping into the room as well. “I got you some fries,” he held out a small order of fries to Sam. Sam rolled her eyes at the fries but offered Richie a soft smile. “What-What did I miss?” he glanced around the room, seeming to just realize he walked into something.
“Y/N was attacked,” Tara said.
“Holy shit,” Richie whispered.
“And something happened but no one will tell me what the fuck is going on with my girlfriend,” she glanced at each person in the room.
“She’s awake,” Sam said. “That’s the first thing.” Her voice was soft, as if she were trying to keep Tara from overreacting to whatever else she had to say. “While Judy was asking questions about what happened Ghostface called.” Tara sucked in a breath; her heart began beating faster. “They-they...” Sam blinked a few times to gather her thoughts. Tara wondered what possibly could have been said over this phone call. “Ghostface said something,” she whispered. “And then Gale Weathers,” Sam shook her head, making Tara furrowed her brow. “Y/N is Gale and Dewey’s daughter.”
Tara’s eyes widened. “What?” she shook her head; she couldn’t have heard right.
You didn’t know your parents, your parents threw you away, literally left you outside the hospital so there was no trace of them. Learning this, learning Dewey, a guy who arrested you, and Gale, a talk show host, learning they were your parents would be worse than Ghostface actually attacking you. Dewey and Gale lived in town, they had been married, you could have had a family, a home, but they abandoned you instead.
“And then Mindy accused them of being Ghostface,” Liv said. “Again.”
Tara snapped a furious glare to Mindy. “What?” she asked, venom clearly in her tone.
“It just makes sense,” Mindy said calmly, raising her hand as if that would quench Tara’s anger. “A child of two legacy characters, abandoned by them, betrayed by them, then learning all this,” she gestured around. “Taking on the mantle of the killer than defined them, that still defines all of them, that ruined them, what better revenge?”
Tara looked at Mindy with wide eyes, shaking her head as she tried to contain her anger. “You got to be fucking kidding me,” Tara said. “That’s fucking bullshit! She didn’t know who her parents were!” she gestured widely with her good hand.
“Well, Ghostface learned,” Amber said, giving a little shrug. “It makes more sense for the child to learn who their parents are than it does some random stranger.”
Tara shook her head. “No! Y/N isn’t the killer!”
“You can’t know that T,” Mindy sighed. “You were here when they were attacked,” she put attacked in quotation marks. “No one was with them.”
“So, all of you were together?” All her friends kept their mouths shut. Tara let out a humorless chuckle. “Any of you could be the killer,” she cast her eyes over each of them. “All I know is Y/N isn’t the killer, they’re the only one I can say that for certain about.” Tara didn’t miss the way Sam crossed her arms over her chest, she almost felt bad, it sounded like she might believe Sam was capable of this, but she didn’t, she didn’t think you or Sam could ever do something like this, she knew neither of you could ever hurt her. “I think you guys can show yourselves out.”
“Come on Tara-”
“Get the fuck out!”
“Come on,” Chad whispered just as Mindy opened her mouth again. He gently put his hand on her arm and led her out the door. Wes quietly followed behind them, keeping his eyes on the floor.
“You too,” Tara said, looking at Amber. Amber opened her mouth to probably defend herself but quickly closed it, rolling her eyes as she stomped out of the room.
Liv stepped forward, resting her hand on Tara’s shoulder and gave it a comforting squeeze. “She said she wanted to be alone,” Liv whispered. “But...”
Tara nodded, giving her a kind smile. Even when you wanted to be alone that never applied to Tara, she was the exception, always. “Thank you,” Tara whispered.
Liv followed the others out of the room leaving Tara alone with Sam and Richie. She wasn’t alone with them for long before Richie seemed to take the hint and made himself scarce as well.
Tara narrowed her eyes as Sam kept her eyes pointed at the floor, refusing to look at her. “You don’t agree with them, do you?” Tara scoffed. She kicked Sam out of the room before she was not afraid to do it again.
“I don’t think she’s the killer,” Sam mumbled. “I was standing right there when Gale revealed the truth,” Sam looked up, meeting Tara’s eyes finally. “You’d have to be a fucking spectacular actor to fake that kind of pain.” Tara’s heart broke at hearing that, she knew you better than anyone, she still could only imagine what you were going through. “However,” Tara furrowed her brow, she had a feeling she wasn’t going to like Sam’s next words. “I want you to stay away from Y/N.”
“No,” Tara said instantly, shaking her head. “No. She needs me right now.”
“Tara-”
“No!”
“She is the daughter of Dewey and Gale!” Tara glared up at Sam. “Mindy might be wrong about her being the killer, but Y/N is the daughter of two of the only survivors of the original attacks. None of this is a coincidence,” Sam shook her head. “Someone let her live because it’s all just a game to them. You’re only going to be in danger with her around.”
Tara clenched her jaw, shaking her head, she couldn’t believe Sam was actually saying this. It wasn’t true, if anything Tara was safer with you around, you’d never let someone hurt her, hell she was most likely attacked because you weren’t around.
“If that’s true about her then the same goes for you,” Tara said, shrugging indifferently.
“Tara-”
“No,” Tara snapped. “If I’m in danger because she’s Dewey and Gales daughter then I’m definitely in danger because you’re the daughter of Billy Loomis.” Tara glared at her sister, refusing to react to the way Sam flinched at her words. “So, if I can’t be around her then you need to leave as well.”
Part of her was hoping Sam would back down, that Sam would realize how insane her logic was. Sam didn’t back down though, she just nodded sadly, then left, leaving Tara alone in her hospital room once again. Tara wiped her eyes; she didn’t even know when she started to cry. She shot you a text, wanting to be there for you in any way she could since she literally couldn’t be there for you. She decided to rest her eyes as she waited for you to text back, yelling at her friends had been more exhausting than she realized.
Tara wasn’t sure how long she dozed off for before her eyes snapped open. Her eyes darted around the room until they landed on a figure sitting in the corner. It was still daylight out, but all the lights were off, and her blinds were closed making the room rather dark. Tara’s heartbeat picked up for a second, but she quickly let out a relieved breath, shaking her head.
“Shit,” she whispered. “You scared the hell out of me.” It took a moment for her eyes to adjust to the dark, but she would know your form anywhere, even slumped in a chair, in a dark corner of the room.
“Sorry,” you whispered.
“Are you okay?” It was a stupid question; she knew the second it left her mouth. It wasn’t like she needed to ask anyway, once the others told her everything, she knew you most definitely weren’t okay. She could hear it in your voice, even before you spoke, she could tell by the way you were slumped in the seat, nowhere near her bedside.
“I assume you heard?” There was no emotion in your voice, it was like you detached yourself from everything.
“Yeah.” Tara didn’t take her eyes off you; she watched as you somehow sunk further into the chair, eyes glued to the floor. She couldn’t see you that well anyway but the only time you had looked at her was when you apologized for scaring her, otherwise your eyes had been glued to the same spot on the floor.
“Everyone thinks I’m the killer,” you whispered. “Sam doesn’t want me to see you anymore.” Tara opened her mouth to argue, to say she didn’t think you were the killer, and she couldn’t care less what Sam thought. You weren’t the killer and there was nothing that would keep Tara away from you, not even her own sister. “And-” your voice cracked. “And my-” you paused on the word as if you physically couldn’t say it. Tara wanted nothing more than to jump out of the stupid bed and run up to you. “My birth mother abandoned me.”
Tara could feel her heart break for you, tears filled her eyes as she watched you bury your head in your hands, gripping your hair tightly. “Baby,” she whispered.
“Why wasn’t I good enough?” You looked up and the little bit of light in the room allowed Tara to see the tears shining in your eyes. “She was right there!” Your voice went higher but not loud enough for anyone outside the room to hear you. “And Dewey, he-” you shook your head and quickly buried your head your hands again. “They were right there. Why wasn’t I enough?” Your breathing was starting to become erratic. “Why am I not enough?” You began to sob.
“Come here,” Tara said. Her own tears had already begun to fall at seeing you like this.
You didn’t hesitate to leave your chair and take the one at Tara’s side, on the side of her good hand. Despite your distressed state, you buried your head in Tara’s side, careful not to touch any of her injuries. Tara reached up with her good hand and began running her hand through your hair, lightly scratching your scalp. She tried to offer you any sort of comfort as you silently sobbed into her side.

Am I the asshole for not letting my husband have a say for the guest list of our baby shower?
I (21 f) and my husband (25 m) moved very quickly in our relationship, much to the judgement of my sister. We moved in with each other after a month of dating and she basically told me it was a stupid idea. We also got eloped with no family or friends there four months after that. When I texted my sister we got married (yes, I texted everyone instead of called) she asked if it was a joke and when I said yes then sent a picture of marriage license as proof, she didn’t respond for days. She called me later which I sent to voicemail, which was basically her crying saying she always imagined she’d be at my wedding and was hurt. I was upset because no one was invited or even told about the engagement; that was the point of eloping. The rest of my family was pretty happy for us though and I focused on that.
We didn’t talk for months because I wanted an apology, or at least a congratulations on getting married. She texted me a few times about nothing important (she sent a few memes). An apology never happened, but I started to text her again because I found out I was pregnant and wanted her to know about it. I called her about it eventually and she was supportive.
Before the Not Talking stage happened, her and my husband didn’t get along. She has made multiple passive aggressive comments about our relationship in the past. There was one time she visited us that made my husband upset because she showed up with little notice and also insisted on visiting again when our cat gave birth to her litter of kittens. She talked about helping and I didn’t really think anything of it. My husband later said he was upset she acted like she knew our cat better than us based off a couple of other comments she made and didn’t like how she invited herself over. I don’t think she meant anything negative about it, but it was annoying she insisted on one specific cat thing we told her we had under control and didn’t stop pestering until my mom called the vet to ask for advise and the vet agreed with my husband and I about how we handled the cat situation. I’m not sure if I explained that well but I honestly don’t know how to describe it without going into too much detail. This is just background info.
My husband and I wanted to do a gender reveal for the baby. We agreed on the theme and had a general date in mind. I invited my immediate family, best friend, and his immediate family that he talked to (which only consisted of three people). He said he didn’t want my sister at the gender reveal and this caused a huge fight. He said if she was there then he wouldn’t show up and I could tell him the babies gender on the phone. I cancelled the gender reveal because I didn’t want to uninvite my sister when she hasn’t made any bad comments in months and also wasn’t about to have my husband not be there. In my mind, there’s zero point in having one if both parents aren’t there. We found out gender by having our doctor write it down on a paper and we opened it later by ourselves. We told everyone over the phone what we are having.
Now, I am pretty far along in my pregnancy and my family wanted to set up a baby shower for me. I let them and we set up a date for it. My husband and I talked about the baby shower multiple times and looked forward to it. I Facebook invited the same people I invited to the gender reveal to the baby shower and he wasn’t happy when he saw my sister was again on that list. Him and my sister has only seen each other one time during these months, which was at a funeral. My sister initiated a handshake which he accepted and asked how he was. He answered fine and that was the end of it.
The baby shower argument was the same for gender reveal. He didn’t want her there and he didn’t want to come if she was there. He said I shouldn’t want someone who has done nothing but disrespect both of us in the past year to be at this event and should get a say in who comes and who doesn’t. There’s no excuse for the things my sister has done and said but it felt wrong to exclude her. If she wasn’t going to be invited to the baby shower, then what was his opinion on our son’s birthdays and other events? We couldn’t do this forever. She hasn’t been rude in months but we never got an apology. I’m also a little bitter about it but I’m trying to not be harsh. At this point, I didn’t say much when my husband said she couldn’t be there. This is because we just got done with a different argument about something completely different and he said he was done about certain things. I said ‘like what?’ and he told me he didn’t want my sister at the baby shower.
He said he wouldn’t have invited anyone that has disrespected me and I shouldn’t either. It sounds fair but it also sounds very black and white. I get along with the family he talks to outside of family events. I don’t get along with a couple of extended family members but he doesn’t get a say in who was invited to those events and never talks to them outside of those family events even before we were together. I didn’t really say anything for my argument because I knew he wouldn’t agree with it anyway. This sounds calm but he was very angry and I was crying pretty hard. He asked over and over again if she was coming to the baby shower and I refused to respond. If I say she’s not coming then I’ll have to follow my word and uninvite her, probably causing arguments within my family. If I say she is then he won’t come. (I’m not sure if this is relevant but my husband and I are both autistic and have been known to shut down and stim when we’re upset). He said he’s tired of being disrespected when I refused to answer for 30+ minutes and wanted a divorce. He crumbled up our marriage license and took my wedding ring off my finger.
He didn’t say anything about the baby shower and started asking questions about the divorce. ‘How much do you want in child support? When do you want to do visitation? Etc.’ I refused to answer for a while but he kept asking and I mostly gave vague answers like ‘whatever you want’ all while still crying. I didn’t say much except to say he was staying and we weren’t getting a divorce.
I don’t remember what happened next and what I said, but he eventually said that I had one more chance to choose him because he’s always chosen me. This is true because he has put me first. He works a lot while I’m not working this pregnancy and always makes sure I eat and everything. I’m not sure what’s going on with baby shower. I think he said that she can come if I put up boundaries about being nice otherwise she can’t come. I think this will start an unnecessary fight because she hasn’t done anything in many months so it seems insulting. I didn’t say anything though. We fell asleep and cuddled and he apologized the next morning before he left for work. He said he was more mad that I refused to talk. I, personally, was more upset about the marriage license he crumpled up. I still didn’t say anything but ok. He still hates my sister and expects me to tell her to be respectful.
I don’t know what to think really. I sound like a jerk for not letting him have a say for baby shower. It is his kid too. I also don’t want to divide my family by not inviting my sister, but he’s also my family. I know he acted like a jerk for the argument but that doesn’t necessarily means he’s wrong about the guest list and having a say. So would I be TA?
What are these acronyms?

Eden camp where all teens went to learn how to be a better Christian’s and in all honesty there was no place better to go and as camp approached Adam was uncertain on what it would entail. He had perfected most if not all of the activities they did when he was a camper so now it was time to flex his skills to a bunch of teens and teach them what is right and what is wrong. Although his ideas of what right and wrong might be a bit misconstrued?
Maybe if his childhood was remotely normal he would have been a normal adult that goes out partying and drinks a shitload of alcohol during the summer but instead his pretentious mother had convinced him to be a youth leader at camp this year. Let’s give three big hoorays for Sera and her amazing ideas!
Adam was excited to an extent, but then there was Lucifer. The slimey son of a bitch who stole not one but two of his ex girlfriends. You can’t really come back from that and to top it all off he was the one that Adam was leading the boys Cabin with. The fact he’d even have to be in the vicinity of and share air with that fucker made his skin crawl with disgust l.
At least he had his best friend Lute would be there who was trying her best so keep her composure after being assigned a cabin with Lilith. Lucifers soon to be wife and Adam’s first ex girlfriend. If you could even call her that. The relationship was off? To say the least. And if it couldn’t get any worse Eve would be there. Of course she would, when this all started they were happily in love and talked about how going away and teaching at a camp for a couple weeks would be so beneficial to their relationship. But alas she would be there.
Sweet Eve, who wouldn’t love the ever loving, beautiful church girl? The girl who’d foster baby birds back to health after they fell from their nest and would go out of her way to help lost children in the supermarket find there parents. Adam. Adam did not love her. In fact he despised her in a way. Okay maybe not despised but it’s hard to love the girl who cheated on you with your ex best friend and ex girlfriend. Just because you never slept together!!
He kind of wished as the days approached that Eve would get into some horrific accident so he wouldn’t have to face her. As horrible as that sounds.
He just couldn’t imagine having to face them all after he walked into Eve’s apartment that day to them fucking like bunnies. It was a sight for sore eyes and as much as it hurt Adam to let go of Eve and all they’d been through together he couldn’t seem to make peace with the fact she’d sought out others and ended the relationship a week later. They still saw each other of course in places like University, church and most importantly the youth group they started running together in their senior year of high school for young teens wanting to learn about Jesus.
He should have just found a new youth group and started assisting there but Sera talked him out of it. She spewed nonsense about how the kids loved him and needed him and he was a great asset to their church. And with his ego boosted he continued as he was like nothing happened. But now camp was approaching where all he would see are these people and he couldn’t exactly ignore them.
Just then his phone pinged. The name read mom. Not that Adam ever called her that anyway.
[Mom]: Hello Adam, as camp is approaching I thought it would be a good idea for yous who are leading to set up a group chat. I have forwarded your number to the girl who is sharing a cabin with Eve and she’s going to set up a group. She looks forward to meeting you.
[Adam]: ok ma thanks for letting me know
That was all Adam sent. He didn’t want to start anything with her or further continue the conversation so he just let it be as it was. As he scrolled the through his socials he saw a couple messages pop up.
As he scrolled through the messages he picked up on the girls name. She seemed cool enough but no photos indicating what she looked like. There was her full name though. So without a second thought Adam searches your full name into instagram and only one account comes up. So he clicked and oh fuck.
She looked gorgeous. Her photos emanating how flawless she truly was. She surely didn’t look the part of a Christian camp leader though. How did she even get this gig? One of the requirements was being Christian.. He knew that for certain. Maybe he had her mistaken. Surely she was better than what she led on.. right? That’s at least what Adam hoped as he turned his phone off and threw it somewhere on his bed and did his best to fall asleep. It was in vain though, fuck were you pretty.
Adam ripped down his boxers and rubbed at his member. He massaged his fingers over his tip and groaned as he pushed his head back into his pillows.
How did you have such an effect on him? Some prostitute looking whore who looked like she’s flash her tits to anyone. Adam wanted nothing more than to knock some decency into you. No well respected girl dresses like that. Right?
As Adam groaned again moving his fingers up and down his dick before fixating on the base. It felt good in a way. The pleasure Adam felt was indescribable but it was only pleasure he got from himself. He had never actually had sex.
It’s not like it was that big of a deal. So what if he hadn’t fucked a bitch, who needs to do that anyway? Not him, that’s for sure.
He had come close though. Not with Lilith even kissing Lilith was a struggle for the both of them and quite frankly was something they did a handful of times but with Eve he delved further. It did take them a while. Adam didn’t want to give into his unholy urges so he held out, like any responsible Christian boy would do.
Eve seemed understanding though he could sense her disappointment when he pulled away before they even got the chance to make out. He could see the looks of despair and how distant she acted after he turned down her further advances. She never communicated this verbally to him but he could sense it. He knew she longed for more and in a way it made him feel like she had the right to cheat. He always reassured himself that her decision was selfish and he had no reason to feel bad for someone’s wrong actions but sometimes late at night when he’s alone with his thoughts he wonders what would have happened if he’d just given in. Maybe then he wouldn’t be alone and she’d be here with him.
He remembers when he did give in though. They were in his apartment and they were making out. An odd occasion that Adam didn’t often indulge in. Our he wanted to appease her so he went along and her carried away. They undressed and hadn’t do en thought twice of the consequences until Sera had barged in. How she’d gotten in was beyond Adam bjr he was lectured for weeks after it and was made to go to confession to confess his sinful actions. From then on him and Eve went back to stage 1 which consisted on an arm wrapped around her while they watched movies, band holding and little pecks ok the lips. He could tell she was unsatisfied with how things had to be though.
Adam felt his dick twitch and could feel he was close to climax as he kept massaging his cock. He wishes you were here with him to help him. Wait no he didn’t? He didn’t even know you. Bur still you were beautiful. At least to Adam and as he kept rubbing he felt climax reaching and he let it cumming all over his hand and sheets.
He let himself feel the pleasure for a .2 seconds before the guilt settled in. He felt it in his gut the overwhelming sense of dread. What did he just do?
He immediately got up and wakes to the bathroom running the tap and squirting 5 pumps of soap onto his hands and lathering it, rubbing his hands together and soaking them under water and repeating the ritual 2 more times. He calms himself who’re returning to the side of his bed and gets down on his knees at the side of the bed and bows his head.
Adam prays. He prays for forgiveness and to help him overcome his lust. He prays and prays until he finally doesn’t feel ridden with guilt and gets up and turns on his TV. He pots on whatever show he can find and turns down the volume. It drowns out his thoughts and puts him to sleep quicker.
And just like that the days flew past and Adam was now boarding a bus. It was loud and full of teens who seemingly had bundles of energy even though it was 7am. Adam was trying to hype himself up while sipping the coffee Lute and him bought on the way here. It was going to be a long ride full of attempts to sleep and failing because whoever the fuck on the back of the bus is playing 2000s white girl tunes and screaming them like a banshee. He wasn’t going to say anything he was happy enough. Especially that he didn’t even have to ask to be sat with Lute on the ride there. Usually you were made to sit with whoever you were sharing a cabin with but under the circumstances Adam was allowed to sit with Lute and Lucifer and Lilith sat together instead.
He was happy enough with the arrangement and stuck his headphones in. Lute was already sat by the window scrolling away on her phone. It was too early to expect her to socialise and in all honesty he didn’t want to socialise either. He needed sometime to recoup to even be able to physically live when he’d be sharing a room with Lucifer and a bunch of rowdy teenage boys for the next couple weeks.
It wouldn’t be terrible especially not when the pretty girl he masterbated too with sitting across the aisle from him. Though she was chatting up his ex girlfriend Eve and for a split second he wished he was her instead. What is he even thinking? He turns away from you and unlocks his phone scrolling through whatever he can to keep himself occupied as they set off.
You had noticed Adam. In fact you’d found yourself into him the moment you met his mother at your parents house.
You were visiting for the afternoon when you met Sera. She was a tall, elegant woman who held herself well, with dark skin and vitiligo on her cheeks and white almost luminescent eyes and lashes that made them stand out even more. She was slender and had the most beautiful grey ringlet curls you had ever seen. This is was Sera? You kind of assumed Sera was some blonde bitch who had several different baby daddies and lived off church’s money but this lady carries herself with dignity and was self assured.
She was delighted to meet you, said she’d heard so much about you. You were sure she hadn’t though. Your parents had a habit of lying when it came to you. You felt guilty that you weren’t the daughter they envisioned but they weren’t the parents they envisioned themselves to be either. So you sat there indulging in your parents lies. It was somewhat comical of how much they came up with. But what can you say it was funny. Key word was. When she started talking about how her sons Christian camp needed more leaders you felt your stomach drop.
You had half the mind to tell her your parents had been lying for years and you were in fact nor the perfect, church going daughter she had envisioned and having your parents be blackballed from the church community. But you played it off and said you would think about it and expressed pity. She looked delighted and told you her son has just broken up with his girlfriend a couple months ago. How he was perfect marriage material and how you two would make a lovely couple.
Your head was spinning. Okay first this ladies trying to convince you to go to some random camp and help out there and now she’s talking about marrying you into her family? She’s crazy especially when she brought up about her son being a virgin.
‘His names Adam and I think you too would get along great.’ She chimed and she sipped on some of the tea your mother had brewed a couple of minutes prior who stood by the counter sipping a cup of coffee looking on edge. Probably in case you slipped up on some heinous lie she told.
‘I’m sure he’s great.’ You smiled at her sipping away at your own coffee and internally trying to keep yourself sane.
‘Here look.’ She said momentarily pausing while flipping through her phone and pulling up a photo of her what you thought was going to be her dorky, repressed loser ass son who would probably live in his mothers basement till she died and he finally could have access to the whole house. But looking at the photo..
He was sexy and what can you say? You were easily bought. It helped you in other ways too!! Like you get extra credit from your university for working with kids. Totally justifiable. At least that’s what you told yourself. Damn you didn’t think you’d have a thing for conservative, Christian virgins but here you are on a bus to a Christian camp with one goal in mind. Fucking Sera’s son.
You sat down across the aisle from him and introduced yourself to Eve. You had spoken to her once or twice over text message and a couple times more in your camp counsellor group chat. But seeing her in person was a different experience.
She was etheral and you couldn’t help but feel inferior to a girl with such good looks and personality. She had dark skin and her hair was pulled into box braids. Her eyes were a deep chocolate coloured brown and looked soft. She had large breast and wide hips and stomach rolls.
She was beautiful and her smile radiated happiness as she introduced herself. She seemed happy and in her environment. She seemed the type of person who could be placed anywhere and just fit.
She told you all about her youth group and how she ran it with her now ex boyfriend. Adam.
Looking at her surely that couldn’t have been right? She was Adams ex girlfriend? She was gorgeous. The definition on beauty nobody could compare to what she looked like. It made sense though someone as gorgeous as her needed somebody to match her. And Adam and her fit like puzzle pieces intertwined they complimented each other insanely well. And he never had sex with her? If she even mentioned the word sex she would have been pinned to the bed immediately. You couldn’t understand why Adam would reject her sexual advances. Surely she’d made some, so why did he say no to her? She was the kind of woman who could make Victoria secret models feel inadequate. You wondered if that was why they had broken up. You tried not to make assumptions as you chatted to her. Maybe cracking Adam would be harder than you first assumed.
It was a long drive and felt even longer now that you had arrived. Your cabin was far and your case with heavy and your eyes practically drooped with exhaustion and your head hung low but you pulled through. You greeted the girls in your cabin warmly and expressed your excitement. You weren’t actually too happy to be here but you weren’t going to let anyone here know that.
‘Alright guys, lets get going! When we get to the cabin you’ll have fifteen minutes to get sorted and then you’ll have free time for the next two hours before dinner.’ She chimed cheerfully. That was getting old. How is she so cheerful after travelling six hours with one stop? Still you smiled as you pulled along your heavy ass suitcase.
‘Need help with that?’ Someone from behind you asked.
He sounded even hotter. Was this grounds for having children? Nope not even close. But it was him. Adam. And fuck was he sexy. Even sexier than the photos you’d seen of him.
‘Yeah.’ You stated smiling turning to face him. ‘You think you could help me with it?’ You questioned a tilt in your voice. You don’t exactly know what it is but men love to play the strong, dominant, I’m so great card a lot. Especially because they presume your helpless. You don’t necessarily like playing the ‘I’m so helpless’ princess card but if it’d stroke his ego enough..
‘Of course babe,’ he smirked smugly winking at you. ‘names Adam.’ He said picking up your case with ease and walking ahead up to your cabin.
Adam was a big guy, you knew that from the photo you say of him but seeing him in person was a different experience. Especially when he’s just picked up the case you could barely bring to your car and trug to the bus driver with ease did something to you. Maybe your just ovulating.
You followed him along with your easy carry on bag, smiling at him as he made it up the hill. ‘Thank you so much.’ You smiled at him looking up at him and slightly batting your eyes. Is that sexy? You hope it is.
He seems to think so as a grin plasters his face and he looks you up and down. ‘No problem gorgeous.’ He states looking back down the hill he sees a group of boys walking the same direction.
‘Look at that our cabin’s our right next to each other.’ He states smirking and winking at you.
‘What luck.’ You whisper loud enough for him to hear. ‘It’s been so nice to meet you Adam but I gotta go unpack.’ You state backing away smiling at him.
His face drops for a second then contorts and he looks angry and he looks like he’s going to say something but he doesn’t and just like that he’s back to smiling. ‘Yeah me too, but after orientation with our cabins the counsellors are going swimming down in the lough. You should come.’ He winks.
‘Yeah I will, see you then.’ You wink back retreating up the steps to your cabin and pulling your case into your assigned room.
The rooms are nice, cosy actually. The bed’s are made of wood with red bedsheets and white pillows and it reminds you of one of those winter cabins you’d find in the Christmas movies. They’re tiny to preserve space but you’d rather that than a bunk bed. You both have a wardrobe each and a mirror. The room isn’t terrible but you’d have to make do with the space at least for now. So unzipping your case you start to unpack your clothes and shoes into the wardrobe.
‘Hey, you nearly ready?’ Eve chimed while popping head round the corner of the door.
‘Yeah, practically all done.’ You replied.
‘Great, I forgot to tell you we’re all going swimming later, well the counsellors. You want to join? I totally want to get to know you better and everyone else would love to meet you.’ Eve said. She was so soft spoken and genuine it made you want to hug her.
‘Oh yeah, Adam mentioned that to me I’d love to.’ Her face contorted for a second into confusion but it’s almost like she realised what face she was making and went back to making her perky, happy face.
‘I’m SO excited, I can already tell we’re gonna have the BEST time together.’ She said walking towards you and taking your hand. Her hands were warm but not in a sweaty way but in a comforting way, it felt like taking a mother’s hand warm and soft.
‘Me too.’ You replied smiling at her as she kept your hand in hers dragging you to the living room for orientation.
Walking to the lough wasn’t long but Eve made it longer by pointing everything out and practically speaking to everyone she had any relation too or people she did not know. She’d been here every year since she was thirteen and now she was in her twenties. Doesn’t she get bored, apparently not.
Walking down the steps you took off your cover on and flip flops and placed your towel and phone on top of them. Scanning the lough your eyes fell on Adam who was sitting on a paddle board looking bored but as he looked up and locked eyes with you he smiled waving you over to him. So You pushed yourself down the ladder and into the water.
It was hell, the water was cold and any joy you had before this had been sucked out of you. Your face said it all as a little farther in the distance you could her Adam laughing at you. You glared at him as you made your way over.
‘You good down there?’ He asked still laughing slightly.
‘No.’ You quivered, teeth chattering. ‘Help me up I’m freezing.’ You practically yelped but Adam looked down at you with a shit-eating grin.
‘Uh-no, I’m good.’ He smirked chuckling to himself.
‘Fu- frick.’ You cursed changing your word mid sentences. Christians don’t curse. ‘I’ll do it myself.’ You stated repeating the ‘I can do it’ mantra in your head. You pulled yourself up slightly your hands clasped on the edge as you pulled yourself further but Adam just had to be an asshole. Of course he did as he pushed his foot towards you and pushed it against your chest causing you to plummet backwards under the water.
As you resurfaced choking on the water you’d just inhaled Adam cackled at you and your predicament. You clasped at the side of the paddle board and you rubbed under your eyes blinking the water out of them to help you see.
‘Here babe.’ Adam calls helping you up and sitting you beside him. You open your eyes fully looking at him.
‘You got a little makeup.’ He states rubbing the black mascara marks on your cheeks away with his thumb. You lean into his touch as he cups your cheek and squishes it slightly. You push away and smile as him bring your knees close to your face. He scrunches his nose and pushes you back off the paddle board and jumps in. You screech as he swims away and you try to catch him. You play around with him till the other counsellors announce they are going back to shower. You stay back with Adam. It’s not like you could use the shower if Eve was in it.
Adam sighs as he lays back on the paddle board you previously sat on. You lay beside him tired out yourself. ‘I fucking hat it here.’ He groans placing his hands over his face. Your surprised ro hear him curse but you turn to him before turning your head back to the sky.
‘Any particular reason?’ You question trying not to pry but what can you your a major gossip. And a slut but that’s besides the point.
‘That fucker Lucifer and his soon to be wife Lilith the fucking snakes.’ He hisses. ‘Stole my fucking girl and now I have to see her everyday and get reminded that she fucked them.’ He went silent.
‘That sucks.’ You sigh. You don’t really have anything else to say apart from that. You weren’t really sure if anything you said with help.
‘Yeah it really does, but fuck her she’s missing out.’ He puffs his chest with somewhat pride. Okay he bounces back quick.
‘From what exactly? A virgin?’ You sneer, not with malice but more jokingly.
‘Who said I was a virgin?’ He yells, sitting up and dramatically looking at you. You have half the mind to tell you his mother told you but you don’t.
‘I can tell.’ You state back to him as he glares at you before looking away embarrassed.
‘And your not?’ He queries.
‘A virgin? Hell no, lost that a LONG time ago.’ You laugh at his shocked expression before an idea pops into your head.
‘Hey Adam?’
‘What?’ He questions.
“Wanna see something?” You question lips curling into a tight smirk. Adam nods hesitantly unsure of what kind of surprise you’d pull in the middle of the lake.
You slowly and carefully lifted down the top piece of your bikini exposing your breast and hardened nipple.
The shock on Adam’s face was all you needed to see as you swiftly lifted your bikini back up to cover yourself again and giggled.
You placed your hands on his shoulders to keep yourself afloat and giggled “Do you like that?” You mused. He sputtered on water as he tries to recollect himself. Was Sera sure this girl was Christian?
You giggled at him as you swum back, he followed in toe grabbing his stuff.
‘You know if you wanna learn I’ll teach you.’ He looked away obviously flustered before flipping you off and cussing you out. You started to walk off but before you did you turned around and spoke.
‘Oh yeah and Adam? You might wanna fix that before the meeting, not very professional you know?” You smirk suggestively, attempting to make eye contact with the more than flustered man to no avail. Turning on your heels you walked off back to your cabin to unpack the rest of your shit you hadn’t got to before orientation and shower before your dreaded meeting. You heard him yelling in the distance. Something about how you could only dream of sucking his dick? Maybe coming here wasn’t such a bad idea after all.
The meeting went by fine but you could see Adam stare at you every so often and his boner was gone. At least he knew how to do something you thought. As you sat by the campfire roasting marshmallows with your cabin and conversing. You could feel Adam’s gaze on you but you ignored it choosing to leave him to make the first move, which may take a while. So as you packed up for the night as walked back to the cabin hearing Adam call you wasn’t what you expected. His cabin was all packed in for the night as he walked towards you.
‘You forgot something earlier, come on it’s on our balcony.’ He mumbled dragging you along inside. The cabin layout was basically the same as yours and you could hear boys chattering and moving around and room light’s under closed doors. You walked towards the balcony with Adam. Walking outside he closed the door behind him and walked you over to where you couldn’t be seen behind the curtain.
‘What’d I l forget?’ You questioned. You didn’t remembering leaving anything but to be fair you we’re forgetful and didn’t realise until the last possible moment that you forgot something so.
‘This.’ He said approaching you and pulling you into him. He met your lips and kissed you. He placed his hands on your hips and picked you up placing you on the nearby table. You clung your arms around his neck pulling at his hair and deepening the kiss. He groaned as your tongues clashed together. He leaned you back breaking away from the kiss and sucking at your neck. Fuck you we’re gonna have to cover that but you didn’t have the willpower to make him stop as he moved down to between your legs. He looked up at you like a lost puppy. He didn’t know how to proceed.
You sat back up and undid your pants pulling them off. Adam copied and watched as you pulled down your underwear and showed him your pussy. He looked in awe.
‘Wanna eat me out?’ You asked. He nodded moving his hands to your thighs as you leaned back down.
Adam was hesitant at first but quickly got the hang of it as he licked up your clit. A moan escaped your mouth your legs threatening to close around his head. Adam suddenly gained momentum as he sloppily started making out with your pussy, sucking away at you as if he was drunk.
You bit down on your hand to prevent your moans from becoming louder and risking getting caught as Adam kept his pace as he tongue fucked your cunt and you could feel the pleasure start to pool in your stomach and you could feel yourself getting close.
Adam mumbled against your pussy ‘You taste so good.’ He whispered before continuing to kiss as your hole.
Adam’s nose moved against your cunt and you felt yourself beginning to release and you came undone around him moaning his name. Adam wasted no time in licking up your cum.
As he moved away from your still wet pussy you could see his erection outlining his boxers. He moved to your lips sloppily against his. You could taste yourself on him but you didn’t seem to care as he pulled away and pulled off his boxers.
Looking down his dick was girthy and totally big. Fuck were you in for it if he could figure out how to use it. But he’d never used his tongue and was still one of the only guys to make you cum so he has to be doing something right.
‘I’m not using a fucking condom so let’s hope I knock some fucking decency into you slut.’ He groans as he slides his dick into your cunt.
It feels electric as you ride on the ecstasy as Adam pumps inside of you. He knows what he’s doing as he whispers curses and nasty words at you.
‘You like that whore? Tell me how much you like it?’ He grunts pulsing inside you still as you babble incoherent sentences totally high on his dick.
‘Use your words baby.’ He whispers into your ear. ‘Does daddy make you feel good?’ He questioned. The use of the term daddy in any other scenario would make you cringe but the way Adam said it made it sound sexy.
‘Yes.’ You hissed as he continued thrusting into you and hitting your G spot just right and just like that you came undone under Adam for the second time that night. He might be a virgin but he KNOWS how to fuck. That’s for sure.
Adam came soon after right inside you. Kind of made you wish you weren’t on the pill so you could have his baby.
Adam practically came in buckets to put it bluntly. His head was lying on your shoulder as he pulled out of you and you could feel the cum running down your legs. Hopefully nobody seems. But you couldn’t say you didn’t exactly wish that. You hoped someone would see in a way. Getting caught is thrilling and especially at a Christian camp.
Recollecting yourself you pulled up your undies and felt Adam’s cum mixed with your own squelch against them as it rubbed up against your already sensitive clit. You choked back a moan as you pulled your jeans back up buttoning them.
You sat at the edge of the table waiting for Adam to speak as he dressed himself. He walked towards you situating himself between you legs and lifting your chin up to softly kiss you. You were entranced in the kiss when you heard someone calling your name.
‘Fuck I gotta go.’ You whispered hearing Eve call your name. You pecked at Adam’s lips as you slid off the table and opened the door. ‘Goodnight Adam.’ You mumbled, winking at him and closing it behind you and running out the door to meet Eve and drag her back inside with you.
Adam leaned back against the table. Fuck was that was amazing. Just as he was about to get up to go back inside someone came out to meet him. It was one of his campers. The ones he was responsible.
‘Hey um Adam?’ Isaac called. He hummed as he moved next to him. ‘I have something to ask you but it’s kind of awkward.’ He trailed off looking to the ground.
Adam smiled at him. ‘Ask away, I’m here to teach you and guide you.’ The way he spoke differentiated between the kids and the way he spoke to you. It was kind of comedic how fast he could switch up from being a manwhore to a holy man. Vast difference between the two but Adam could be both.
‘You see I keep falling into lust..’ He mumbled. ‘And I’m really trying not too but I find it really hard. And I guess I was wondering how to deal with it? How you’d deal with it?.’ He questioned. He sounded exasperated of all options at this point and Adam was proud to guide him in the right direction. To tell him what he would do.
Suddenly Adam’s stomach dropped. Wait what did he do? Lust is a sin. But not only lust, sex. Sex before marriage is a sin. He just committed one of the most terrible sins and felt no remorse until a fucking child asked him? Is he being serious?
What had Adam done? He’d went against his beliefs and what he stood for. His morals something he swore to never do till marriage with a girl he JUST met. What had he done? How could he make up for this? No, no no. This can’t be happening it’s not real. Adam stumbled over his words and talked about prayer and reading the Bible and how it really helps and sent Isaac back to bed and he thanked him profusely as Adam smiled but inside he felt suffocated. How could he guide children and help them when he was going against everything he and they believed in? Adam knelt down on the floor and prayed. I mean what else could he do?

favorite crime. (Miles morales x reader)
For as long as Y/n and miles could remember they’ve known each other since they were children! Anytime Y/n needed comfort from her two parents constant arguing or miles was just far too stressed, you know they were with each other.
Everyone could see except them, that something was growing and they yearned for each other. That was until there was a shift and something became between them.
Every Sunday Y/n would come over for family dinner, bringing a meal she prepared with the happiest smile….it started with him missing the most important dinner.
“Hola, Mrs.Morales! How are you? I made arroz con leche for tonight, hope you like it!! Where’s miles?”
Rio’s face smiled any chance she could when she saw the way Y/n loved miles, he was always the first one she’d look for.
“Miles!…Miles!”
The mother put her head to her forehead sighing as silence was the only response to her calling.
“Ugh he must be asleep. Go get him please!”
Rio rushed the food to the table setting up her meal.
“Miles…”
Y/n walked in quietly to see an empty room and her whole demeanor changed, for the first time Miles missed dinner.
“I-um miles isn’t here. Maybe he went to go grab something-“
“Miles?! He would never miss a Sunday dinner with you! Must be something super important, you know he wouldn’t do it on purpose hun-“
Jeff gave Y/n hope that, that’s all it was.
“Oh- Hi Mr.morales, you’re probably right!”
They all sat down and began eating their meal, although Y/n enjoyed the moment of calmness compared to her normal home…there was an ache in her heart that something was wrong. Even with all the spider duties Miles promised he’d never miss anything with her.
Those promises were broken. The closer miles got to Gwen, the farther Y/n came to mind. The poor girl would come home soaking wet after waiting for miles at the places he told her to meet him at. All Y/n could do was text him and hope for the best, it was harder to talk to him nowadays. When they did hangout Miles couldn’t be any more distant than he already was.
At least In those small changes when they hung out there wasn’t a deep sadness, maybe boredness from Y/n not being Gwen…but now Miles was hard to hangout with, something was clearly always on his mind and bothering him. It hurt Y/n to see him so frustrated, sad and quiet…so she finally asked him.
“Miles what’s wrong? Is it the spider stuff? You haven’t seemed as happy..”
The boy looked up with a surprised face, it had been so long since they had a genuine conversation that he forgot Y/n knew him like the back of his hand.
“It’s just- ugh it’s Gwen. She’s gone now. I miss her, I need her.”
Y/n’s heart broke hearing the words and behavior miles used to do for her, complain about missing Y/n to his mother. He used to always miss Y/n. However, Y/n was far too kind to deny his clear emotions of frustration right now so she passed a smile.
“It’s ok miles, if she left it’s just because she returned to her world. That’s ok if it means she’s happier.”
Her own words hurt her, she loved miles so much…if he were the rain she would never open an umbrella. Instead, she’d lie down on the concrete and enjoy every drop that laid on her skin, she’d drown there even if it meant drowning in him.
“What? No. She’s the happiest she ever was here! You don’t know her! You don’t get it.”
Y/n’s eyes widened at the anger and yelling Miles was now putting towards her, Y/n was the only one miles could talk about Gwen with and she didn’t get it, not the way he wanted her to.
“Miles..you don’t have to yell I- I do get it! I see it. You’re displaying exactly how you feel for me to know all of it-“
“Just be quiet and go Y/n.”
Y/n’s eyebrows furrowed and tears built up when she turned around to grab her backpack. No matter how upset miles was he never yelled and was never seriously mad at her. He was just so frustrated that it was Y/n there, not Gwen. Miles could feel the tension..he felt bad but not enough to apologize so when Y/n took one last look at him while he faced away from her she could feel her heartache and he could hear her rapid heartbeat, her hushed panic breaths, and the small tear falling onto her jacket..although it was very faint.
For some reason miles got a sense, a bad one…something to do with Y/n but he ignored it. What he didn’t know was that it meant their paths were changing…
!❤️💙!
Hope you like it! This is my first story about something other than avatar so it’s not the best, sorry about that! Love you guys though! Hope your doing good!

x
You and Clarissa haven’t talked since Disneyland, and you’ve been avoiding her. You told her that you love her boyfriend. What sister would be okay with that? Clarissa is a very emotional person and you hate doing anything to upset her. You never wanted to come between them. Still, you have to face her eventually so you go to the Bunker knowing she’s been staying here since you got back from Disneyland.
You knock on the door and wait for someone to answer it, and you’re kind of disappointed when Sam does.
“Hey, come in.”
“Thanks. Is Clarissa here?” He doesn’t have to answer because you see her in the war room about to head up the metal stairs. “Where have you been? I’ve been calling and texting you. We should talk.”
“I gotta run but I’ll see you at home.” Your heart drops knowing she is avoiding you but she pulls you in for a hug. “It’s going to be a girls weekend, okay? I’m taking you out.”
“Okay.”
She pulls away from you and leaves the Bunker with a smile on her face. She doesn’t seem all that upset. Then again, she’s a good actress. Once she pretended to be nice to you for a family gathering but then when you were alone, she gave you the meanest cold shoulder. You forget why you two were fighting.
“What was she doing here?” you ask Sam.
“I don’t know. She’s been in Dean’s room the whole time.”
Speaking of, Dean walks into the war room and tenses when he sees you. Oh no. What the hell did Clarissa tell him? Shit. Of course, she’d tell him that you’re in love with him. God, you shouldn’t have said anything.
“If you’re looking for Clarissa, you just missed her.”
“I know. I saw her.”
You and Dean try to avoid each other’s eyes and Sam looks at both of you.
“Okay, I found a case.”
“A hunt?” you ask with interest. “Can I come?”
“You want to go hunting with us?”
“Yeah. The last time was fun. What are you hunting?”
“A nest of vampires.”
“Sounds easy enough,” you shrug.
“Easy? Have you ever used a machete before?” Dean asks.
“Yes, have you?” you tease.
Dean finally cracks a smile and shakes his head without answering your question.
“What about your job?”
“Look, I love being a nurse and helping people but after Disneyland, I realize the best way to help people is to hunt. Isn’t that what it’s all about? To help as many people as I can? I can still be a nurse but it won’t be in a hospital.”
“What about the internship? You worked so hard for it,” Sam says.
“Yeah, I did, but that was before. All I know is how I feel now, and I want to learn how to be a hunter. Who better to help me than the best.” You smirk. “Unless you’d like me to go to someone else, you know, who isn’t the best.”
“I know what you’re doing,” Dean playfully glares at you.
“Does that mean I can come?”
“Fine.”
“The more the merrier,” Sam chuckles.
“Yay!”
You don’t have a lot to pack so it doesn’t take you long to pack the car up with what you need. Sam and Dean take longer than you so you’re inside the car with your feet on the dash, talking to Clarissa on the phone.
“Looks like I’m going hunting with them. A nest of vampires, according to Sam. Don’t worry, I’ll be back in time for our weekend.”
“Good. You really like doing this kind of work, don’t you?”
“I do,” you smile. “Listen, are we okay? You know, after Dis--”
“We’ll talk when you get back, okay?”
“Okay,” you whisper.
You don’t feel any better about the situation. Sam and Dean join you in the car and put the bags into the trunk.
“Feet off the dash,” Dean says and slides behind the wheel.
“Yes, sir,” you say sarcastically, but you don’t miss the way his jaw ticks and how he shifts on the seat.
For the first few hours, you listen to your own music and play games on your phones, but by hour five, Dean turns down the music and glances over at you.
“So, tell me how you think you kill a vampire.”
“Okay.” You put away your phone and shift so you’re facing him. Sam is sitting sideways with his legs stretched across the back seat. Even in that position, he has to bend his legs since they can’t fit all the way.
“Stake through the heart? Put it in sunlight?” You think that’s funny but Dean doesn’t laugh. Sam chuckles but he coughs to cover it up when he sees his brother’s look. “I’m guessing that’s wrong?”
“No. Decapitation is the only way to kill one of them. That’s why we have machetes. Listen, they’re strong but you’re craftier. Whatever you do, don’t let their blood get in you--through eyes, open wounds, or the mouth. You’ll turn into one of them. If you do happen to get turned, don’t drink human blood. There’s a cure for vampirism but it won’t work once you fully transition into one.”
“Got it.”
It’s a lot but you’re not going to let it scare you. You chose this. You have to be okay with everything that comes with hunting. Dean stops for gas and Sam goes inside to get something to eat and to stretch his legs. You stand off to the side with your machete in hand and practice swinging it. You don’t think it will be hard to slice a head off the body but it can’t be easy. You three are the only ones at the gas station so you’re not worried about scaring someone with your machete.
Dean puts the gas nozzle back into the hook and looks at you. He chuckles to himself when he sees you swinging the machete around. He looks at Sam to see him still browsing the food so he walks over to you carefully.
“Careful there, slugger. You might take an eye out,” he jokes.
“Sorry. I’m just practicing.”
“Yeah, I can see that.”
“Am I doing it wrong?”
“Your stance is off. If you stand like this,” he spreads his legs slightly and turns his body slightly toward you, “then you’ll swing more smoothly.” You try to copy his stance but you look as stiff as a board. “Here, let me show you.”
Dean presses his body to your back and you immediately freeze. He grabs your hips and turns you while keeping your legs where they are. He kicks your right foot lightly and you move it further by a couple of inches. His fingers trace up your body and to your arms. Goosebumps follow his fingers as they make their way down to your hand. He wraps his big hand around yours so you’re both holding the machete. He keeps one hand on your hips and turns you slightly before swinging the machete down. Your heart is racing a million miles a second. This shouldn’t be happening.
“See how much easier that feels?”
“Yeah, it does,” you whisper.
Dean’s hand flexes on your hips as if he’s holding back from exploring your body. You turn in his arms and look into his beautiful green eyes. What you wouldn’t give to kiss him right now. His eyes dip to your mouth but before anything can happen, Sam calls for you two.
“Hey, you guys good?”
“Are we good?” Dean asks you, his voice low.
“Yeah,” you whisper.
Dean’s the one to break away from you and you feel sad that you can’t feel his body anymore. You only have two more hours to go. Two more hours locked in a car with Dean. The sheriff is waiting for you when you three arrive in town.
“Thanks for agreeing to meet with us,” Sam says and shakes his hand.
“Of course. Thanks for coming. We’re having a bit of a crisis here. Our small town doesn’t do well with back-to-back murders. Well, supposed murders.”
“What do you mean?”
“Not a single body has been found. People go missing and everyone speculates that they’ve been murdered. It’s a small town. No one ever leaves and if they do, we know exactly why--money, new job, marriage--people don’t disappear from here.”
“Do you have any theories?”
“I don’t want to start drama but a new family moved into town on Old Miller Farm. Justin Miller, bless his soul, got sick and sold his farm to the first person he could get to buy it. They’re weird, won’t talk to anyone, and they only come out at night. They’ve got everyone freaked but they haven’t broken any laws.”
“We’ll take care of it, Sheriff. Thank you for speaking with us.”
Old Miller Farm is the next stop, and there is a small space for the Impala to park where you can see the farmhouse in clear view. If they are vampires, then they won’t show themselves until the sun has gone down, and they do. As soon as the sun disappears beneath the horizon, they file out of the house. Two of them sneak to the back of the property at a place where you can still see from the car. There is a huge woodchipper and tornado shelter doors that lead further underground. The vampires outside talk to each other for what seems like hours before heading back inside.
The two vampires by the woodchipper open the storm doors and head down into the shelter before returning with two bodies slung over their shoulders. Even from where you are, you know they’re dead. One of them starts the machine and the other tosses a body into the shipper. Seconds later, the entire body is shredded only to be fed through the chipper again. Whatever is left over is poured into buckets. You’re not sure where they plan on taking the contents but if they have pigs, no one will ever find their remains.
“God, this is horrible,” you sigh and look away from it.
“They must be doing this to hide the bodies. Feed them to the pigs and everyone is none the wiser,” Sam says.
“So, how are we going to do this?” you ask.
“Well, you’ll stay here and Sam and I will--”
“Excuse me,” you cut him off, “I did not travel a thousand miles with you to stay in the car. I’m here. I want to help. Look, I might not be ready to take a nest on by myself but I can distract. Use me.”
Sam and Dean look at each other in silent conversation.
“Fine,” Sam stutters. “You distract from the front and we’ll sneak in the back.”
“Alright, if you’re going to go in there, you need to know a few things,” Dean says. All three of you get out of the car and Dean opens the trunk where the weapons are. He takes out two syringes from the bag. “This is Dead Man’s Blood. It won’t kill them but it’s like poison. It’ll take it down to where you can kill it, okay?”
“Yeah,” you nod and take the syringes.
You wait for the vampires to be done crushing the bodies before you three head to the house. You break off from the brothers and walk to the front door. Sweat forms on your hairline but you try to keep calm. Vampires have super hearing. They’ll hear your racing heart and smell your fear. They’ll know something is up before you can distract them. You take two deep breaths before knocking on the door. A woman answers it and she looks dirty like someone just picked her off the street.
“Can I help you?” she asks.
“Yeah, my car broke down and I was wondering if I could use your phone?” You point to the Impala which can be seen from the house. “I promise I’ll be quick.”
“Are you alone out there?”
“Yeah, can I use your phone? My cell died.”
“Sure. Come in.”
She opens the door wide enough to squeeze you in, and you have to stop the gag when you smell how bad she is. There are half a dozen people inside, all of whom are staring at you like you’re a piece of meat. You keep your eyes cast downward and follow the woman into the kitchen where the wall phone is. There is another woman inside eating something red. You don’t want to know what it is.
“Thank you.” You pick up the phone and dial your sister’s number. Don’t pick up. Don’t pick up. Please don’t pick up. She doesn’t and you chuckle nervously at the two women who are staring at you. “Damn, she’s not answering. Let me call someone else.” You dial Dean’s number knowing his phone is on silent. He doesn't answer it so you hang up with a slight blush on your cheeks. “Sorry to waste your time. It looks like no one is answering.”
“Do you need shelter for the night? There’s an extra bed here,” the woman offers.
“Oh, I don’t want to trouble you any longer. It’s okay. I’ll charge my phone in the car and call a tow truck.”
You turn to leave but she blocks your path.
“Why didn’t you do that in the first place?” You open your mouth to answer but you hear a loud thump coming down the stairs. She hears her friends shout in anger and she turns to you with deadly eyes. “Hunters.”
She bares her fangs and lunges at you, pinning you to the wall. You grab one of the syringes and stab her in the neck, emptying it into her system. She cries out and stumbles back but you’re not free yet. The other woman runs at you and slams her body into yours. She knocks you over the kitchen table and onto the floor. You reach into your jacket pocket and unsheath your machete but the female vampire is too quick for you. She kicks the machete out of your grip and steps on your hand. You scream out in pain just as she leans down to attack, and the kitchen door slams open. Dean rushes in and slices his machete through the air and right through her neck.
“Are you okay?” he asks and helps you up with your good hand.
“Yeah, just a bit bruised. I don’t think it’s broken.”
The vampire you injected with Dead Man’s Blood writhes on the ground, moaning in pain, and Dean yanks her up by her hair.
“Wanna kill your first vampire?” he asks.
You flex your injured hand, deciding that it’s okay enough to grip the machete. You pick up your machete from the ground and twirl it in your hand.
“Yes.”
You do what Dean taught you to do and bring the machete down on her neck. Her head falls to the ground and rolls to the side, and you gasp at the shock of it.
“Look at that. You’re a natural,” Dean smiles.
The kitchen door slams open and you and Dean look at Sam.
“We gotta go. The cops were tipped off.”
Party’s over. You don’t bother cleaning up your mess knowing the police will either cover it up or make some excuse as to why the new family in town is no longer living there. You’re back home earlier than you thought you’d be, but you stay home to unwind from the case before hanging out with Clarissa. She made a spa appointment for you two on Friday, which is a good thing since your body aches from being thrown over a kitchen table.
“I saw them, Claire. They shoved those bodies into the woodchipper, but I killed my very first vampire. It was exciting. It was awesome. Dean was awesome. You should have been there.”
“Nah, that’s your thing. Spas are kind of my thing,” she chuckles.
You lean back on your chair and sigh happily.
“This is nice, too.”
You and Clarissa are alone in the room to unwind before they call you back and give you a massage, and Clarissa looks at you with a sigh.
“I gotta tell you something. We should talk about Disneyland.”
Yep, there is it. Hunting took your mind off this conversation but now you’re forced to confront your feelings.
“I know. Look, it wasn’t fair for me to--”
“No, let me talk first.”
“Okay.”
You sit up and remove the face mask off your face so you can see her better. She does the same and tosses the mask into the trashcan.
“When you saw me in the Bunker earlier this week, I was there to break up with Dean. We’re not dating anymore.”
Wow. You were not expecting her to say this. You blink rapidly as you try to think of a response.
“Oh, wow, I don’t really know what to say to that.”
“I’ve been thinking a lot about what you said at Disneyland and it’s true. I don’t love Dean. I’m ashamed to say I only kept him around for selfish reasons. Don’t get me wrong, I really did like him in the beginning but he’s not the man for me. I’ve seen the way he looks at you. He loves you.”
Okay, now you don’t know what to say to that, so you don’t say anything.
“Are you okay?” you ask once you find your voice.
“Oh, I’m fine. I’ve been talking to this guy for a while. Dean knows about him. I’m not a cheater so I ended things with Dean so I can be with this guy. His name is Asher. He’s rich and loves spending his money, especially on me.”
You can’t help but laugh at that. There’s nothing wrong with wanting a man who has a lot of money. It doesn’t make Clarissa shallow. That’s just what she’s into.
“Well, I’m happy for you. I can’t wait to meet him.”
“Yeah, but I think you should be with Dean. You two are clearly meant for each other, and I didn’t want to hold you back from who makes you really happy. What kind of sister would I be if I kept him from you?”
“Thank you, Clarissa,” you smile with tears in your eyes.
“Don’t mention it. Oh, and I know you switched the presents on our birthday. I know he got me that gun.”
“Yeah,” you chuckle, at a loss for words.
Dean was single for the entire hunt. He was single when he held you in his arms. He was single when he held your hips. He’s yours for the taking. How the hell are you going to bring this up to him?

The Solar System Legacy Challenge: Found Gen 1 pt.67
Kiersten: Your phone is ringing again.
M:..
Kiersten: Please let me take you inside. It's freezing out here.
M:....
Kiersten: I know we haven't known each other that long, but you are my closest friend here and I care for you like a sister. So I’m going to be honest. I don't think Kason did whatever it is that Paris is trying to convince you of. And yes, I know he kept things from you.. but maybe he had a good reason. The love between you two is different.
M:......
Kiersten: I've never seen any man look at anyone the way that Kason looks at you. I'm not even sure he knows the female gender exist outside of you. You need to talk to him. You told me yourself, he's never done anything to make you distrust him.
Finally she breaks her silence.
M: No, he never has. I swear I'm not trying to be close minded here. I want to talk and give him a chance to tell me its not what it looks like, but...
Kiersten: It's her isn't it?
M: Why does she know the girl in that photo? Why would Kason spend time with anyone that would willingly associate with her.
Kiersten nods in understanding
Kiersten: This is why you need to talk to him. Only he can answer those questions for you, AND! when you do, don't let what Paris said cloud your judgement. She's a bitter and jealous women, Kason is your husband, your soulmate.
M: What if I don't like the answers I get? Then what?
Kiersten shakes her head, a genuine smile lit up her gorgeous face. She takes M by the hand helping her onto her feet. She wraps a reassuring arm around M’s waist, pulling her in close, both for comfort and warmth while leading her towards the exit.
Kiersten: Its going to be okay. Come on, we can call him when we get inside.
For the second time that evening Kiersten was M’s guide to safety. Sheltering her from the cold and attempting to shield her mind from the thoughts that threatened to consume her normally jovial friend.
The Gratz Backyard
Kason: Well, they aren't here.
Rufus: We could go inside. What's the harm?
Kason: Do you want to explain to a sleepover full of kids that we don't know where their mothers are?
Rufus: I'm sure that wouldn't please your mother-in-law either. You've made your point.
Kason could feel himself reaching a point of desperation. They'd been searching for M and Kiersten for almost 2 hours and no one but Paris had seen them leave. Neither were answering the phone and it was getting noticeably colder as the night dragged on.
Kason: Let's head to your place. The temperature is dropping I doubt they're hanging around outside.
Kason checked his phone for the millionth time. The ringer was on full volume but It hadn't made a sound all evening. He checked anyway, trying to stay positive as they hurry up the street hoping to find his heart.
The Walter’s house
Kiersten watched M from the kitchen. She'd been staring at her phone for 10 minutes before dropping her head onto the table. She was supposed to be texting Kason but had yet to muster up the courage.
Kiersten: I told you. I can just call Rufus and tell him we’re here. I'm sure they're together. Kason must be worried.
M: What do I say when I see him?
Her voice muffled by the table.
Kiersten: You tell him what you saw and then you ask your questions and listen.
She lifts her head from the table with notable effort. She was tired, cold and her stomach was tying its self into water knots. She’d already abandoned her cup of coffee and had completely ignored the plate of Spooky cookies Kiersten had laid out, more out of politeness than M’s willingness to consume anything since Paris’s little bombshell.
M: This feels so strange. Normally when I have a problem I talk to Kason.
Kiersten: It's easy to see you two love each other but so obvious that you’ve never hit a bump in the road. In your relationship I mean. I have a feeling yours will pass quickly.
M: Why?
Kiersten: Because, I know he didn't do it, and so do you. Your upset because your confused. For the first time he did something uncharacteristic but who's to say its a bad thing.
M refused to look Kiersten in the face even though her tone almost demanded her attention. She didn’t want her to see how she clung to those words like a lifeline.
M: I hope you’re right.
Just outside Kason and Rufus rush into the house. Once inside they hurry to their respective partners gathering and fussing over the women to be sure they were unharmed.
Kason: Thank the watcher! M are you okay? I've been trying to call you.
She nods to avoid making eye contact.
Rufus: Ya could have called me.
Kiersten: I'm sorry My love.
As Kiersten and Rufus embraced and whispered sweet comforts to each other Kason takes M by the hand and without a word leads her into the Walter’s backyard.
The air had a bite to it, as the breeze blew in from the coast. The only sound was the whispers of the wind and the constant swaying of multicolored leaves as they dried and fell to the ground with the faintest tap.
Kason: Mercury
M: who is she?
Her voice, barely above a whisper, carries in the empty yard.
Kason: Her name is Madison.
He waits, knowing she needed to be in control of this situation. He didn’t rush her, allowing her time to think her next question through.
M: And?
She finally responds, a hint of irritation coating her tone.
Kason: And nothing M. I met Madison at the clinic the day of Comets appointment. She was there with her cat. She said hello and we talked for a while. That was it.
M: That was it?! Then why are there two pictures of you!
Kason was taken back. He couldn't recall a time he'd heard M truly raise her voice in anger. The furrow in her brow wasn't the same as when she was intensely focused, but he knew why. He wasn’t ignorant to what she was truly upset about, but he didn’t want her to ask because he didn’t have an answer yet.
Kason: After my meeting on Saturday, Madison was at the cafe with friends when I got there. She came over to say hi.
It wasn’t a total lie but it wasn’t the truth and it killed him to not tell her everything.
M: She's friends with Paris.
Kason: Mercury, I swear I had no idea she was friends with Paris.
Mercurys phone rings, its Takara. She ignores it.
M: But Paris..
Kason: M please, listen to me. I don't know what Paris said or what she tried to make this seem like but it isn't true. You know me Mercury I would never do anything to hurt you. Why would I? I’d be an idiot to trade you, or what we have for any woman.
He takes a step forward. She takes one back. That single step made her feel miles away instead of inches. She had never moved away from his embrace. It was a first and it hurt like hell.
M: The hardest part is in my heart I know I should trust you, I want to trust you but it hard to ignore the what’s right in my face Kason. If she’s just your friend, finding out about her like this feels wrong. I don't know what part Paris had to play in all this, but YOU lied to me. YOU kept her a secret, not Paris. You.
She walked past him and leaves. Taking with her everything he felt made him whole.

Halloween Plans
« A plan is a set of intended actions, usually mutually. »
Yunjin x gn!reader
Fluff (suggestive)
synopsis - yunjin but make it spider-man. that’s what she decided the plans were this year.
wordcount - 1.1K
T/W - suggestive towards the end
A/N - saw this edit of spider-yunjin on pinterest y’all i almost drowned in the air it was crazy. i had to share its too good like LOOK AT HER. n e ways i couldn’t just not write something with it so here, enjoy🗣️
“You’ll love me no matter what, right?”
You chuckled at your girlfriend’s words on the other end of the line. Not even a “Hello.”, “How are you?”, or her usual “Did you eat yet?”, nothing.
“What did you do?” You playfully sighed.
Her opening line gave away her guilt. It was her go-to whenever she’d done something you could dislike.
“You promise you won’t get mad?” She asked, confirming your thoughts.
“How bad is it?”
“I mean…” She trailed off, and the line stayed silent for a few seconds apart from the faint ruffling coming from her end. “Depends on the scale.”
A soft laugh escaped your lips despite the slight worry she’d been causing so far. Quite the conflicting emotions, but it was a common effect of her using that one line.
“Okay, just tell me, I have to get going in a few. Let’s get it over with.” You told her before putting her on speaker so you could get dressed to go to work.
“Okay, so you know how we agreed on a couple costume this Halloween?” She started, and you hummed, waiting for her to continue. “Well, I kind of… went my own way.”
Your pants were only buttoned halfway when you stopped to go over her confession. Last time you checked, both of you were happy with the outfits you’d chosen. The party was a couple days away and the costumes were ready in your closet as you spoke.
You wouldn’t be upset if she changed her mind about them, but something was odd in the equation.
Sure, she was prone to impulsive decisions, but seeing as you were invloved, she would have at least asked or even told you about it beforehand.
So if anything, this whole thing was making you curious.
“Is that your way of breaking up with me?” You joked, hoping to hear more.
You heard her laugh before calling you all kinds of stupid with all the affection in the world, “If you keep asking stupid questions like that I just might.”
“Threats don’t work on me, you know that. Now tell me everything or I’ll actually break up with you.”
She gasped, and you knew just the face that went with it. The fakest and most exaggerated offense all over her features; a sight that could never fail to make you laugh, even now although you weren’t there to see it.
“You know what, thank you because now I don’t have any remorse. I’m glad I did this, it’s the perfect revenge outfit.” She said, smirking to herself at the sight of her own reflection.
The mirror she faced gave her an idea of just how much you’d like that last minute change.
“Yunjin, what are you talking about?” You whined, growing impatient.
You joined your phone on the bed, the shirt you still had to put on only a distant thought now. All you cared about was finding out what your girlfriend had up her sleeve.
“Is it a good thing or not, I’m confused.” You whined some more, and the sound of her laugh was only frustrating now.
“I don’t know, you tell me.”
Her thumb hit send on the text and its attachment with no hesitation.
She’d taken the selfie minutes prior, right before deciding to call you. She initially wanted to send it to you with no context, but it wouldn’t have been as satisfying nor as fun if she didn’t witness your reaction in some way.
The phone buzzed in your hand, making you raise an eyebrow at the notification, but you did open it immediately. Muscle memory or circumstances, you couldn’t care less about the cause behind the action.
Especially when your eyes landed on its consequences.
The line fell silent for a good while, during which Yunjin had to hold herself back from a lot of things.
She’d seen herself in that Spider-Man suit, she knew you’d need a moment.
“Oh my gosh, wait don’t tell me you actually fainted!” She yelled after a while, startling you back to reality.
Your mind had drifted into various thoughts, some more wholesome and pure than others, but all held the same amount of love for their subject.
How dare she make a joke out of this, but gosh… how you loved that woman for it.
“Yunjin…”
“You’re alive!”
“Barely.”
That laugh of hers ran through the line once again, and you couldn’t help but laugh with her this time.
“So, are you mad? I found it while shopping with the girls earlier and it was too good, I’m sorry.”
“You know, I’m nothing if not forgiving.” You said, relieving her from a weight. “But you better have bought two of these because I’m just as vindictive.”
“They only had the original red and blue one in your size.”
“Good enough. It’d be weird being seen kissing your twin anyway.” You joked, making her groan.
“Ew, never say that again.” She laughed. “I’ll return it, I’m so serious.”
“As long as you keep yours.” You shrugged with a smile, looking back at the selfie she’d sent you.
“Didn’t you have to get going?” She changed the subject, only giving away the fact that you’d managed to make her blush.
“I can be late. Do you still have it on?” You asked, doing your best to sound innocent.
“I do actually. Why? Do you want to see the live action?”
You giggled, “You know me, I love Spider-Man movies.”
You really did. It was even part of why she didn’t think twice before buying that costume. However, as much as you loved the blockbusters, you had a feeling her performance would quickly snatch that number 1 spot from any of the emblematic character’s actors.
“You’ll see it this weekend. Now go, stop being late to everything.” She scolded.
“Fine.” You sighed in defeat. “You look so pretty by the way, I love you.”
“Thank you, I love you too.” She smiled, feeling all giddy. She loved it when you called her pretty, it made her feel shy; the good kind of shy. The one where you couldn’t help but play with your hair and blush like a teenager.
She blew you a kiss from her end of the line, and the sound made you feel that exact same way.
“Talk to you later!”
You hummed in agreement before hanging up and looking at the time.
The sight made you jump to your feet. If you lingered any longer you’d actually be late. So you hurried, putting on the rest of your outfit, your shoes, and finally out the door.
You made sure to be fast and efficient with your tasks, making things and time go by quicker. Maybe you’d get a raise that way, but it wasn’t the main goal. Just a bonus.
For the next two days, you hurried everything out of your way in hopes that the party would get there quicker.
It was going to be a fun one.

Between Daylight and Darkness
Chapter 1
Next>
Ao3
“You have any idea what this is about?”
“Nope, Toby just said that Jim found something unusual and wants to meet up at his house to check it out,” Mary glanced down at her phone, rereading the text message that said as much.
First Jim ran out during the middle of history class, acting cagey the rest of the day, and now this. With the events of the past year fresh in her mind, she’d done her best not to push beyond asking if he was ok. Which Jim had brushed off with ‘I’ll tell you later’.
An honest answer for sure, but not a particularly reassuring one. Toby had promised to talk to him one on one later, which brought them all here. Obviously they weren’t going to push Jim if it was something private. But Mary would be lying if she said she wasn’t dying for some answers.
The three of them headed up the front steps of Jim’s house, Claire stepping forward to knock on the door. And after hearing Toby call ‘It’s unlocked’, let themselves inside.
Heading into the house, Mary saw Jim and Toby sitting in the living room, Jim clutching something shiny in his hands.
“Hey guys,” Darci tossed her bag aside and took a seat on the couch, Mary and Claire doing the same “What’s up?”
Jim hung his head and let out a shaky breath “So this morning, I overheard Eli saying something,”
“He better not be trying to get into the school’s basement again,” Mary mumbled.
The last time Eli’d tried to uncover the secret mafia treasure stash buried underneath the school, which by the way, didn’t exist, he’d busted a pipe and the entire school had to be evacuated and classes had been canceled for a week and a half while they mopped up the water and fixed everything.
She was honestly surprised he hadn’t gotten suspended for that.
“No not that, Eli was saying…he said on his way to school he saw monsters fighting under the canal bridge. Monsters with stone for skin.”
Just like that the atmosphere of the room shifted from casual to tense. All four of them sitting up at attention, eyes locked on Jim.
Claire ever so slightly eased herself forward “So were you…”
“That’s just the thing,” Jim propped himself up with his hands on his knees, looking around and meeting each of their gazes in turn “I was nowhere near the canals this morning. I stayed inside until I changed, then headed to Main Street to stop at the bakery and took the long way to school,”
Mary let out a small breath, tension she hadn’t even realized was building between her shoulders uncoiling. No one had spotted him, Jim was in the clear and his secret was safe. But this particular coincidence still cut far too close for comfort.
“Then later, during history class I heard something…someone calling my name. It kept getting louder and no one else could hear it but me so I ran out and followed it–”
Jim cut himself off and pulled in a deep breath “I followed it to the canal bridge, and I found this,”
He reached out and dropped something on the coffee table with a clang.
“This was the thing calling my name, I pulled it out of a pile of rubble underneath the bridge, it hasn’t said anything since,”
Jim sat back as the rest of them leaned in, staring down at the object on the table.
If she’d heard this story from anyone besides this specific friend group Mary would have laughed in their face and told them to come up with a more believable prank. Mary wasn’t laughing now.
Jim would never joke about something like this. And all five of them had seen far stranger things than talking inanimate objects.
Claire reached an arm out then hesitated “Can I…”
“Sure go ahead,”
Permission granted, Claire plucked the object up and held it up close to her face to examine it. Darci and Mary leaned in over her shoulders, watching with keen interest as Claire turned the object over in her hands.
“It kind of looks like…a pocket watch, or some kind of clock,”
Mary was inclined to agree, the object was a circle about the size of a phone, silvery metal framework and hands around a shimmering blue face with writing around the edge. But that was where the similarities ended. The language written on it wasn’t any Mary recognized, looking more like fantasy runes than anything else, the gears and hands inside enmeshed together in a jumbled mess unlike any clock Mary had ever seen.
Claire glanced up from the object back towards Jim “Can I try something?”
“Go ahead,”
She turned her gaze back down, raising a single finger to push at the largest hand “If I can just–”
Without warning the object shot straight out of Claire’s hands, making all of them jump, slamming into Jim’s chest and knocking him back against the couch with a grunt.
Before any of them even had a chance to react the object started whiring where it was pressed up against Jim’s shirt. Gears spinning and hangs ticking faster than Mary’s eyes could track, blue face flashing behind them, faster and faster and faster–
Abruptly the object froze with a resounding click.
A glowing ball of light drifted out of the object, all of them watching frozen in shock as the ball drifted up and vanished into Jim’s chest. Before she could even process what she’d just seen another ball of light floated out and drifted into Jim, then another, then two more–
Mary felt a scream building in the back of her throat, only to be cut off in a strangled gulp as the entire room lurched.
Her fingers dug into the couch cushings, desperately trying to steady herself as a wave of dizziness rocked into her. And when she saw strands of her hair drifting up and around her face, swaying in the completely still room, she knew that the sensation wasn’t just in her head. Pens, coasters, and various other small objects drifting up into the air around her.
Claire was able to anchor herself to, but Toby, Darci, and Jim weren’t so lucky, floating up into off the ground with shouts and yelps. Floundering in the air along with lighter pieces of furniture.
Mary’s heart was in her throat, stomach doing flip flops, if she looked in the wrong direction or even thought about what was actually happening she was going to throw up. From out of nowhere there was a sudden burst of light in the air around Jim. And when Mary looked again a piece of metal, the same silver as the object, materialized in the air in front of him, then another flash, then another, light and metal filling the air around him.
Seeing the shape of the metal surrounding him Mary’s brain started to connect several sets of dots, but before the picture could take shape in her mind all the metal flew towards Jim in a blinding flash, knocking them all back and returning gravity to the room in an instant.
Mary sagged back onto the couch with a gasp of releif. Breath coming in sharp pants and trembling all over, fingers still in a death grip on the cushions. She shook her head to try and clear her vision only to freeze.
Jim was now standing there in the wrecked living room in a shining silver suit of armor, a large sword strapped to his back and the round object embedded in his chest plate. Staring at his gauntleted arms with eyes blown wide and jaw hanging open.
For a few seconds no one spoke. All of them, Jim included, standing there completely stupefied.
The silence was broken when Toby let out a low whistle.
“Now that’s what I call magic,”
Mary’s heart was still hammering, brain still reeling, dizziness from earlier not yet fully dissipated, but curiosity overpowered the shock and she pried her fingers off the couch and stood up.
This wasn’t any kind of costume or cardboard imitation, this was full on real deal metal plate armor. Enough to make Jim the envy of every history and ren fair nerd in the state. And that sword didn’t look like it was for show either.
Toby rapped his knuckles against his chest, producing a metallic ringing sound “Ok did any of the things you saw or heard this morning imply ‘magical suit of armor’?”
“...no I can confidently say that this came out of nowhere,”
“I’m kind of surprised you’re being so chill about this,” Mary walked up and leaned in to examine the object embedded in his chestplate, now softly ticking.
Jim let out an awkward chuckle “Oh I’m doing all my freaking out internally,”
“How do we know for sure that the armor itself is magic?” Claire joined them “For all we know it’s just a regular suit of armor,”
One of Darci’s eyebrows arced up “Claire I’m pretty sure that regular suits of armor don’t appear out of thin air,”
“But maybe it’s just the watch that’s magical and it summons a regular suit of armor?”
“Hang on I think I know a way to test that,” Toby rushed out of the room “Be right back,”
“Ok let’s just table the armor and its potential magical properties for the moment and go back to this,” Jim pointed at the object now embedded in his chestplate “What is it? Where did it come from? Why does it summon a suit of armor of all things!?”
Mary stepped in closer then froze once she spotted something on the watch, leaning her face right up towards Jim’s chest to make sure her eyes weren’t playing tricks on her.
“Uh Mary what–”
“The writing, on the watch, it’s in english now,”
“What!? What does it say?”
Mary squinted, craning her neck to read the circular script.
“For the glory of…Merlin…Daylight…is…mine…to…command…”
“Merlin!?” Darci started “Like ye olden times Camelot Merlin? I thought he was just a myth,”
“Most historians agree that Merlin existed as some kind of advisor to Arthur,” Claire sided up to Mary to stare at the object herself “But all the stories about him having magical powers were supposed to be exaggera–”
“I’m back!” Toby rushed into the room “With the proper equipment for scientific analysis,”
Toby came up to Jim and placed something against his armored shoulder. As soon as he took his hand away the object fell to the ground. Expression scrunched in concentration, Toby repeated the action twice with the same effect.
Mary glanced down at the objects gathering in a pile at Jim’s feet, it took a few seconds for her to recognize them as fridge magnets.
“Uh…Tobes what exactly are magnets supposed to tell us?”
“Traditional plate armor is steel based,” Toby said, placing another magnet on Jim’s chest only to have it immediately slide to the ground “Which means that these should at least stick a little, so the only explanation is this armor doesn’t have any steel in it at all,”
“So what would it be made of?” Darci stepped closer “Silver?”
“It’d be pretty crappy armor if it was made of silver,” Claire said “Platinum or titanium maybe?”
Toby grabbed Jim’s arm and lifted it up, bending the elbow back and forth “I’d have to do more testing to be sure, but I’m pretty sure it’s not any of those three. If it was silver I’d expect at least a little tarnish, and it feels way too light to be platinum or titanium,”
Jim huffed out a breath “Ok guys as fun as this all is I gotta take a break to–”
Abruptly he went ramrod straight, face going chalky.
“Jim?” Mary took half a step away from him “Jim what’s wrong?”
“I change in five minutes,”
“Oh….kay….”
“Guys there’s a reason I get undressed when I change. If just growing while wearing jeans sucks a suit of armor’s going to be….”
Mary could pinpoint the exact second everyone’s expressions changed from confusion to pure horror, hers included.
Oh shit.
“Ok we’ll get it off we gotta get it off,” Toby reached up, grabbed Jim’s chestplate and started tugging at it, Darci scrambled around and did the same at his back. But despite the two of them pulling with all of their might the armor wasn’t budging.
“Hang on I think I have an idea,” Claire dashed out of the room, the two of them still frantically pulling and straining at the armor while Jim stood awkwardly between them
Mary hung back, if Toby and Darci’s yanking wasn’t doing the trick hers wouldn’t make a difference. She kept trying to think around this, how was the armor attached, what was holding it in place–
“Step back!” Claire rushed back into the room, a metal spatula grasped tight in her hand. Toby barely had enough time to scramble out of the way as Claire charged at Jim, wedging the spatula underneath the object.
“Hang on,” Claire pressed the handle down further “Almost–”
Blue light erupted from the object, rocking the room with a wave of concussive energy, much stronger than the earlier one. Throwing couches and tables aside and slamming all four of them back.
Mary’s back hit the wall with bruising force, the air knocked from her lungs and vision flickering, a pained wheeze escaping her as she crumpled to the ground.
“Guys!” Jim raced around, whipping his head around the room towards each of them “Are you ok!?”
“Fine,” Mary’s voice came out coarser than she would have liked, gripping the side of an upturned bookshelf and pulling herself to her feet “Just a little bruised,”
The tension didn’t leave Jim’s face, glancing around at all of them and the scattered furniture “What the heck was– hrk,”
Mary knew Jim more or less shapeshifted from human to his blue horned form every sunset, even if she’d never personally seen it happen. But she’d been around Jim enough that she knew the process had to be quick, even if it involved growing horns.
The reality was even faster than she expected.
It reminded her of the time lapse edits in documentaries, showing tectonic plates pushing flat land into towering mountains over millions of years in a matter of seconds.
Pale skin darkened into blue, limbs lengthening and thickening, facial features shifting, fangs and horns appearing as rapidly and gently as frost disappearing. If she’d blinked at the wrong time she would have missed it.
She was so dazzled by Jim’s transformation it took her a few seconds to notice something equally shocking.
“Dude…” Toby whispered “The armor…”
Jim didn’t look up, busy staring down at his hands and arms, or more likely the armor that now fit them perfectly.
Somehow the armor had grown along with the rest of him.
“Ok, wow…” Darci whispered “That armor is definitely magic,”
Jim glanced up “Yeah I…I guess it is,”
Mary didn’t say anything but her mind was going a mile a minute. She didn’t have all the pieces yet, none of them did. But between the armor being able to ‘magically’ accommodate both of his forms and Eli’s claims of creatures of stone skin near where Jim found it, she had a gut feeling that whatever this object and armor were, they were connected to the magic that made Jim change every sunset and sunrise.
Now they just had to figure out how.

Courage, dear heart
hello! have some Kasey/Alex angst set during SW. that ginger took rainbow tape out at All Stars and you can't tell me Kasey didn't have a little crisis when he saw. read it on ao3 here. all characters belong to @lumosinlove.
The night of All Stars, Kasey’s brain switched off the moment he saw Alex skate around with rainbow tape around his stick, opening a line of colorful players behind him. And it was unfortunate, because it happened right at the beginning of the night. Kasey hadn’t thought about much else for the few hours spent at Remus’ place, only offering vague comments every now and then. Natalie’s eyes finding his over the Cubs’ heads had been the one thing keeping him at bay.
Then Logan had called his boys, and that’s how they found out. The tape had been Alex’s idea.
Kasey wanted to say something, anything to him. He wrote ten texts or so on his phone, feeling stupidly self-conscious as he erased them all. Hey, Al, nice tape. Hi, loved your idea. Hey, Alex, good gesture. He sighed, wondering how did he always make everything so complicated. And why he’d never had the courage to do something similar.
And now there they were, in Dumo’s backyard, with the Lions’ team and their families surrounding them.
The Lions were going to the finals, and they felt invincible.
The air was electric even outside of the rink, following them everywhere and rising every time they met. Kasey could see it in Thomas’ grin, in the little jumps Finn made any time he was on his feet. Leo told him it was a mixture of things for him. We’re so close, and my parents are here, and I have two boyfriends, can you believe it? Because I can’t. I feel like I could climb the Everest in one morning. Kasey shared that excitement, but he had to admit that it was nowhere near to the thrill of his first seasons in the league. It tasted bitter in his mouth. Most things about hockey did, now. Leo’s sparkling eyes had brought fresh air in hockey, at least for Kasey, and he was glad for it. A little push to go on until he couldn’t.
And Alex was there.
I wouldn’t miss it, he’d said. How ever it goes. He was standing by a bush with Timmy and Olli, and Kasey couldn’t hear their conversation, but they were laughing and shaking their heads. He never failed to make people laugh.
Kasey saw the moment Alex’s eyes spotted him, leaning against the wall. He watched him excuse himself with a warm smile and one last joke. His eyes followed him to the drinks table, and saw him grab two beers. He came to lean next to him and handed him one without a word.
Kasey took a sip as they watched the sun go down, drawing golden stripes on the surface of the pool. It was still too cold to jump in, but just standing next to it built the vibrant energy of the beginning of summer. Air of anticipation really was everywhere, these days.
Kasey stole a quick glance of Alex.
The same man standing in front of him had convinced half the players at All Stars to wear rainbow tape relying on sheer force of initiative, and a great deal of courage. Even if Kasey had been surprised to see it, he realized, looking back, that there really was no reason for it. Everything about Alex translated into actions, and watching him skate around and wave his hand at the fans with pride tape, he couldn’t see a difference between him and the boy he’d fallen in love with. The boy he’d shared playful glances in the locker room with, that made him laugh loud and messy, with the little snort, and that took him for long walks on the beach every time he played in Florida. Seeing colorful stripes on his stick had moved Kasey more than he cared to admit. What does it mean, and were you thinking of me?
Of course, Natalie had noticed, too. Natalie noticed everything and she was good at not making a big deal out of things. Kasey loved how she’d immediately understood whatever was going on between him and Alex, and how she’d kissed him gently after. It’s okay if you have love for both of us. Gentler than he could ever be with himself.
That night, they’d shared a surprised look as everyone commented the tape and the players, and he’d seen her gaze going from him to Alex-in-the-TV as she tried to figure it out with him. Was it a message? Or simple support? They’d held hands in silent reassurance, wondering what it all meant.
After a few minutes of comfortable silence—Alex was good at those, too- Kasey cleared his throat. He stole a glimpse of the redhead’s golden profile against the setting sun, serene and warm.
“Sick tape,” he blurted out. “At All Stars. Logan said it was your idea.”
Alex’s eyes darted on him, as if looking for something. But it was just for a moment. Then the usual lively grin crept in, for him to relax into.
“Yeah. I thought your captain could use some support, you know?”
Kasey turned to glance at Sirius, standing on the other side of the garden, smiling at something Adele was telling him. Remus was there, holding hands in a newfound sweetness that was delightful to see. Kasey swore it had all seemed impossible until it happened.
“He really did,” he nodded. “I’m glad he had it. It meant a lot.” Kasey stopped before adding to Cap, because they both knew that it wasn’t just that. It meant a lot to me.
Alex nodded, maybe not sure on how to answer. He looked around, and his smile softened when he found the Cubs over the snacks table. Finn had an arm around Leo’s waist, talking a mile a minute, while the other two were looking at him smitten happy. Kasey studied the redhead in front of him as he looked fondly at them.
“And, you know, it wasn’t just for Sirius. For Finn, too. And his boys.” He shook his head, smiling. “You know, Finn called me the morning of All Stars, all excited, saying Alex, big ass news, I’m so happy I’m gonna die, and told me everything.” He took a sip of his beer, eyes returning to Kasey with a raised eyebrow. “Well. I already knew something was up between him and Logan, like, ages ago. I was waiting for him to tell me. And he did, so I felt like I needed to show him that it was okay. On and off the ice.”
Kasey thought back at All Stars night, when eight people had crumpled into Loop’s living room. How Finn had shouted That’s my big brother, and the way his eyes were shining in front of the tv. Kasey had allowed himself to linger on those eyes for a few moments, while everyone else focused on the screen, thinking about the twin pair that Alex bore. He remembered their warmth on his skin, shining like a jewel in the sun. Kasey thought about those eyes a lot.
Bring your eyes on me and I’ll wear your stares like the most precious stones, an old song played in his mind. He didn’t remember the name.
Alex bit his lip, sobering, and those wonderful eyes moved to his shoes. His voice came out lower this time, a vulnerability that people didn’t get to see often.
“And—you know. I had to do it for myself, too.”
Kasey felt a wave of heat rushing to his head, his heartbeat growing faster. He tightened his grip around the beer, only for the icy glass to send shivers down his spine. But Alex looked calm—like he always did.
“I just thought, what’s the point, you know? ‘S not my problem if someone cares.”
He paused for a moment, and everyone else would have thought that he was waiting for a reply from Kasey. But Kasey knew he didn’t. Alex never expected anything from him. And in that moment, Kasey was glad, because he felt petrified.
Alex sent him a small, reassuring smile. Why was he reassuring him and not the opposite, Kasey wasn’t sure.
“I’m not gonna do a big coming out. I’ll just…stop hiding, I guess.”
Then he looked up, and snorted, shaking his head as he’d just told the most amusing joke. He took another sip. Kasey could see his ears blushing as he ripped off a corner of the beer’s label.
“I mean, nothing’s really gonna change, and there’s nothing to hide. But still.”
He said the last words with his usual calm, nonchalant serenity. He threw Kasey a helpless smile, and then returned to watching the people around them as if the conversation had never taken place.
That was what Kasey had never understood. What he’d never comprehended, what he could never do.
How Alex could appear, bright and warm and wonderful, throw a few smiles and jokes around, be what people needed him to be, and then drop bombs like that. Nothing’s really gonna change. There’s nothing to hide. And then he returned to normal, like his own words, his feelings, didn’t matter more than chitchats about the weather.
Kasey just looked at him.
Nothing’s really gonna change.
Alex had never been one for holding back. He’d never been afraid of what he felt, and at the same time he’d never expected anything in return. He just felt, and loved, in his warm and easy way, without taking or holding anything against him.
Kasey was the reason nothing would change. He knew it in his heart.
He knew it every time someone tried to ask Alex about eventual partners, or dates, hookups even, and he just shrugged and smiled. Nothing significant. Not really my thing.
He knew it every time they met or talked on the phone, and Alex inevitably asked about Natalie, but then he’d stay quiet for a bit.
Alex hurt quietly, and Kasey knew, and hurt even more quietly, and none of them would do anything about it.
Alex loved Kasey. He wouldn’t need to come out if it wasn’t Kasey at his side, simply because he didn’t want another man. So, nothing would really change. And the redhead looked like he didn’t mind.
Kasey could swear he was going to go crazy.
Did he know Kasey loved him back? They’d never spoken about it enough for the goalie to understand it, let alone about Nat’s feelings, or their deep conversations about love and guilt and pain the middle of the night. Did he know they watched all his games, traced his helmet on the screen with their fingers? That they whispered his name, like a secret just for the two of them?
Kasey just looked at him, even if it hurt to stare at a soul that didn’t know how to love without hurting. Or how much love and sleepless nights bore his name.
After a moment of silence too long, Alex must have felt Kasey’s stare on him, because he turned, and his smile softened.
“Oh, Kase, don’t look at me like that. I’m fine, really. I just meant…there’s nothing to notice, you know? But it’s fine.”
Kasey looked at him with pleading eyes, even if he didn’t really know what he needed from him. To stop talking, to stop caring, to stop being so nice about it.
Alex sighed, rolling his eyes back, his expression dropping for a second. He took a breath before wearing his smile again.
“Listen, let’s forget it. I just wanna have a good time with my friend, alright? Haven’t hung out in forever, you and I,” he said, nudging their shoulders together. He paused for a second, before taking another sip. “Hey, what are you doing at the end of the month? You know, after you and your team get your hands on that shiny thing.”
Kasey hurriedly looked around for some wood to knock on, but had to settle for the wooden piles under their feet, forming a path to the pool. He gently tapped one with his shoe a few times, ignoring Alex’s disbelieving scoff, and shrugged.
“Dunno,” he said, a small smile returning to his face. “Nothing planned yet.”
Alex grinned. “Well, in that case,” and Kasey rolled his eyes at the old joke, “I have the house at the Hamptons to myself for, huh, a long time. If you wanna come, with Nat of course, I’d be happy to have you two.”
Kasey looked in the crowd by the pool for Natalie, and found her with her feet in the water, talking to Katie as the she moved her tiny feet energetically, sending splashes all around them. The grip in his throat loosened a bit. He nodded.
“I’ll ask her, but you already know the answer.”
“Great,” Alex grinned, leaving a pat on his shoulder. “I’m gonna go grab another beer, want one?”
Try four or five. “I’m good, thanks.”
He returned the smile as Alex walked away, taking away with him a bit of the warmth in Kasey’s body. He let out a sigh, gulping down too much beer at once, and then looked around for a bit. There was something in spring nights that always made tears burn more as they sat stubbornly still at the corner of his eyes.
He glanced at Natalie again, and realized she’d been looking at him for a while, a frown worrying her brows. He bit the inside of his cheek, maintaining eye contact. He didn’t feel like shaking his head and scrolling it off. He didn’t have it in him, not that night. Not after that conversation. And in all honesty, he was tired of dismissing pain like nothing could scrap him.
So, he just shrugged helplessly and made a discrete hand gesture that meant later. She nodded, not fully convinced. Love you, she mouthed. He mouthed it back, and she finally focused on Katie again when he sent her a little smile—more like an imperceptible raise of a corner of the mouth, but she knew him.
He then glanced at the Cubs, still by the snacks table, where Finn was trying to make Logan dance to the rhythm of a low background song. Tremzy looked like he was protesting, but he let the redhead move them, nevertheless. Leo, leaned on the table, was filming them with a smile of his own.
They looked so happy, Kasey thought, glancing back at Natalie, and then searching for Alex, now chatting with Noelle and Thomas.
Kasey looked at the Cubs again, and then at his girlfriend, and then at the man he loved, and decided there was something he could do. Or at least try. He’d talk to Natalie that night, in the quiet comfort of their bedroom. They would figure something out.
Something could change.

Why Won't You Love Me | Luke Hemmings
Pairing: Luke Hemmings x Reader (she/her)
Summary: Luke and Y/N broke up after a few months of dating so they could at least remain friends, but seemed like it didn't ease the pain.
Warning: angst, fluff, a bit of cursing and mentioning of alcohol
Word Count: 3 081
Requested: yes
Author’s Note: It's partly a song!fic, too, I guess. Hopefully you'll like it! I enjoyed writing their memories so much. Please, don’t forget to like/repost/comment, it helps a lot!
So many senseless quotes were out there. “They didn’t mean to be.” “They just met at the wrong time.” What did they try to express by that? Y/N was getting furious each time she’d bump into another photo with a pretty text on it. It’d hurt, actually hurt. From the throat, down the stomach, it would squeeze the guts inside and move lower, until she’d lose any desire to leave her bed and go to a short walk, at least. Those quotes were nothing but small ugly stones in a shiny candy wrapper.
It wasn’t even supposed to be that painful. They ended the things up just after three months of dating, so there wouldn’t be a damage to their souls even more if they’d give each other another month. Why didn’t it go according to that perfect plan, though? Why would she be upset when he couldn’t be in touch during a tour, why did she prefer to be apart, but once they were, it didn’t feel any better?
Why was he still dreaming about her at nights? Why would he wake up in the middle of sleep, calling her name? Why suddenly it was the only name he knew at all? The bed was colder, the pillow was more of a sharp rock, and the food lost its flavors.
The life didn’t even let them catch a breath. It seemed like it couldn’t get any worse at that point, truly. Luke was back to LA after touring, and they meant to remain friends, yet, they hadn’t seen each other ever since. It was just hard, almost unbearable. They thought they’d break up to save their friendship, and yet they lost everything. Each other.
Y/N would still be in touch with other guys, only sometimes though. It wasn’t like it used to be, surely. Everyone knew it couldn’t be, even if they didn’t talk about it openly. Yet, Ash decided to send Y/N a short message, asking to meet as he was finally home. Honestly, it was the only nice day for the past few months.
“What the fuck is she doing here?” Luke turned all the way to the window and stared at Ashton and Y/N, who were approaching the car. They were talking and smiling, Ash was carrying her suitcase.
“Y/N had rough few weeks, so Ashton suggested her going to the villa with us,” Calum explained casually, looking at the friend.
Lu hastened to turn towards Cal, who was sitting just behind him.
“You kidding? It supposed to be our weekend!”
“And it will be, Luke,” Michael hurried up to reassure, resting hands on a steering wheel. “C’mon, we are still her friends, she’s quitting her job and yet can’t find anything good for her, you have to be a bit understanding.”
“Understanding?!” he outraged. “Could you at least warn me in advance, guys?!”
“We knew you wouldn’t mind anyway. Even if you’re now behaving like you do,” Cal answered and turned a head away, as the door opened, and Y/N got inside.
“Hi, guys,” she smiled shortly.
“Hey, how are you?” Mike gave her a hug as much as he could, being in the driver’s seat.
Calum smiled and cuddled the girl, too.
“Hi, Y/N, so glad to see you.”
“It’s mutual, Cal,” she nodded and then leaned towards Luke. It’d be weird to ignore him.
“Hey,” he only said and patted Y/N on a shoulder, almost holding his breath so he wouldn’t sense the perfume the guy used to love so much.
She hadn’t exactly changed. Maybe a little. Yes, Luke saw dark circles under her pretty eyes, her face was tired and lost its healthy color, but she was still beautiful. Y/N smiled, and the musician only sighed, looking away, because it was simply impossible to look at her. To remember that they didn’t work out because of their own stupidity, naivety, recklessness and ego, assuming they could be just fine without each other.
Ashton placed the girl’s suitcase in a trunk and got inside as well, so Michael started the car.
The road was long. It took almost two hours, for Luke it felt all four. He almost didn’t speak. The guy was staring at the window, observing the nature passing by, while others didn’t stop talking. At some moment he just closed the eyes and pretended to fall asleep. Maybe it was childish, but it helped to feel the pain less.
“Luke?” she stopped next to him, as they all came inside, and Ash gave everyone a tour to their new home for the coming week.
The villa was a pretty one, spacious, with a pool, fireplace, tennis court, few bedrooms downstairs and upstairs. But honestly the head was so much not there.
The guy turned to Y/N and only mumbled something, waiting for her to continue. She sighed and hid hands in pockets of a hoodie.
“I know it… it can be uncomfortable for us, and… I’m sorry if it’s the case for you. I… just missed… my friends,” the girl was trying to find the right words carefully. “And I really needed some change in my routine,” she sighed.
“No, we are all glad to see you,” Luke said, and he knew it was the truth even if he was hiding it from himself. “Mike told me you have some problems with the job, though. Are you alright? Do you want to talk about it?”
Her lips stretched into a smile immediately, and she shrugged.
“No, I’m good. Thanks, though.”
“Don’t do this,” he said, looking at the girl’s eyes.
“Do what?”
“Smile. I know you’re hurt.”
It was painful to watch. Him, pretending he was ready to come back as a comforting “just friend”, and her, behaving like she was strong enough to move forward without him. The world was falling apart, they knew it. Didn’t figure out how to fix it, yet.
Ashton was right, though, the change of a place was helping Y/N a lot. Maybe the presence of Luke was, too. It felt nice to let the head have a rest and not to think of problems which were waiting for her in LA. It was nice to forget the day of a week and lose track of time. And it was rather healing to notice Luke’s eyes on hers, to feel a slight touch of the fingers on her skin while he was passing by or taking the same candy from a vase. He felt almost alive again. And she finally remembered how it was, in heaven.
Luke was an angel. She’d tell him that millions of times when they were together. During breakfast or before going to bed. While he’d be touching her like only he could, or when he’d sing for her. He was an angel. The guy would laugh at that. Would get certainly shy, and maybe she’d, if would be extremely lucky, see a slight blush on his cheeks.
“I think you were a Cupid back in centuries,” she said, lying with him in bed.
“A what?” Luke chuckled and left a soft kiss on her nose. “What kind of silly thoughts are in your head, Y/N?”
“No, I’m honest,” the girl smiled and hugged a pillow, looking at him. “Your eyes are reflection of the sky, Luke. Your golden hair is just like Cupid’s. You have magical voice, and you have a soul of an angel,” she rested a palm on his chest. “Do you think you can fly?”
He smiled and leaned to kiss her sweet lips.
“I feel like flying all the time when I’m with you,” Luke whispered.
He had to leave. They both knew it, there wasn’t even anything dramatic about that. The tour had lasted for months, when he’d go back home for few days it was just harder to say a goodbye. The last time they had said it, as a couple, they had probably already known it’d be their last kiss. Luke knew they weren’t alright, but he couldn’t stay and talk it through. She didn’t want him to, either. Y/N knew what she signed for when they started to date, the girl wasn’t delusional. They just both thought the distance wouldn’t hurt them.
They hated the phone calls. It was easier with texts, but when he’d see her face on a screen, Luke would have to hold back the tears. She’d smile, just like she did when they arrived to the villa and he asked how she was, and then would cry all night, missing him, them. Desperately, unbearable.
“I just feel lonely, Luke. I feel lonelier with you than I was by myself,” Y/N said the other night, and it just broke him, simply, without any other bright adjectives, without complexion.
“I don’t want to let you go.”
“I don’t want that to. But maybe that’s why we need to stop this torment.”
“Is that how it is for you to be with me?”
“No, you don’t get it. It’s how it is being without you.”
She still remembered his eyes that night. Maybe it was for the better they spoke on the phone and not in person. Maybe it was for the better that he was hundreds of miles away from her. His eyes were cloudy, grey, bursting into rain any second. Y/N was already crying. She hadn’t stopped for the past few days after that call.
The pain was going away, though, slowly. Who knew the pill from the agony could be the same as for happiness. She thought it’d be awkward; and truly was trying to reassure Ashton and explain how weird it’d be to go on a trip with them after all what had happened between her and Luke. But Ash knew it was exactly what the guys needed. A second chance…
“Do you like it here?” Luke turned his head towards Y/N as she entered the kitchen to get a snack, and smiled. The guy himself was sitting on a couch with a guitar in his hands. He was working on a new song, the idea came to his mind a few days ago, when they first arrived to the villa.
The girl looked at the musician and smiled back, taking a slice of rye bread and a plate.
“I do,” she said honestly.
“On a scale of liquorice to pizza how much do you like it here?” Luke chuckled and left the guitar on a couch, then walked towards Y/N.
“Pizza level,” the girl laughed shortly and showed avocado in a hand. “Do you want some?”
“Yeah, I’ll help you,” he nodded and got another slice of bread. “I’m happy you’re having a rest here, with us.”
“Really?” Y/N sounded almost surprised, washing the fruit.
“Of course,” Luke hurried up to glance at her, as the girl knew his sky eyes didn’t lie. “Why are you amazed?”
“No, it’s just…” she shrugged. “I was worried it’d be odd, but the truth is…”
“I’m really glad to see you,” the guy interrupted her, as he really wanted to say it first.
Y/N smiled and nodded, glancing at Luke.
“I’m really glad to see you, too…”
Luke sighed and put a bread slice on a plate.
“Look, I… I’m sorry it happened like that. I… I should have been stronger; I knew it wouldn’t be easy…”
“Luke, you shouldn’t have,” Y/N shook her head. She didn’t want him to blame himself, it wasn’t fair.
“Yeah, but now I feel like I gave up too easily,” he said honestly, looking at the girl, while she was making them sandwiches.
“We both gave up,” she corrected him and, seeing Lu wanted to say something else, hurried up to change the topic.
“Where are the others, by the way?”
“They went to get some grocery,” he mumbled, not being convinced with the news himself. Friends probably thought they were idiots.
“Oh,” Y/N nodded. “Ash didn’t really warn me, weird.”
For some reason that phrase made him chuckle in annoyance and even though “don’t say it” was ringing in his head, he spilled it out nevertheless.
“You and Ashton are pretty close, huh?”
The girl raised her eyebrows in a surprise and looked up at the guy.
“I mean… Just like with all of you?” Y/N asked, although it wasn’t exactly the truth — with Luke it was different.
The musician immediately got embarrassed that he snapped at her.
“I’m sorry. I’m not allowed to be jealous, you aren’t even mine,” 'anymore', he wanted to add but bit his lips before adding anything more stupid.
The girl swallowed and looked down.
“Ash and I are just friends. Always were and always will be,” she said quietly, wondering if Luke knew the reason. Because she still loved him, of course, she did. Her angelic boy…
“I wrote a song,” he mumbled. “I mean, I’m still writing it,” the guy ran the hand through his hair, getting nervous. “Wanna check it out? The melody isn’t here yet, there are just lyrics for now.”
“Sure, I’d love that,” Y/N nodded, and they took a seat on a couch with their snacks. Usually, Luke didn’t like people checking his unfinished songs or lyrics, but, driving by emotions, the guy really wanted her to read the lines he came up with.
Y/N took the notebook and read hastily written text. It was clear Luke was in a hurry to put it on paper until he forgot.
Switching into airplane mode again We're not alright but I'll pretend Press my cheek against the glass Just be good 'til I get back
The ground disappears I hold back the tears I check my phone to see your face Staring back as if to say Don't worry, you won't be lonely
“Luke, it’s so beautiful…” Y/N smiled and looked up at Luke. “Almost like a story. And I desperately want to find out what will be next for them,” she handed the notebook back to him.
“Really?” the corners of the guy’s lips twitched in a short smile. Luke wasn’t sure if Y/N actually got that the unfinished song was about them. Was she pretending so he wouldn’t rise that topic again? She didn’t miss him? “Thanks. I guess,” the guy mumbled and put the notebook on a coffee table, feeling another burn in a heart.
Y/N wasn’t lying and surely didn’t want to hurt Luke. She just thought it’d be too narcissistic to think the song was about them, after all their relationship didn’t last long. Before that they were just friends. The song could be about anyone. Could be about some fiction characters, too…
Why won't you love me? Why won't you love me? You imagine when you close your eyes You're with me on the other side So why won't you love me?
Whiskey became his friend for a while. Stupid, useless, Luke knew. Yet the only time when he was not thinking about Y/N was mostly when he was drunk. Although even at that time memories would rush to his head, while he’d be sitting at a bar where they used to go together.
He wished he could call her and hear “I love you, too”, but he didn’t dare to hit a green button on his phone. They broke up, they were just friends. They supposed to remain friends, became strangers instead. But then found each other again, thanks to his band mates.
Why won't you love me? Why won't you love me? We're together, all alone tonight So helpless from the other side So why won't you love me?
It didn’t matter if the guys were planning to have a rest, they all knew that at some point they’d still end up in a studio making music. Y/N wasn’t surprised to see a small one on the villa either – friends would only regret if they didn’t have their creative space.
At such times the girl didn’t usually bother them and was spending time by herself, enjoying small vacation. Honestly, she needed it. And even though Y/N was not with Luke anymore, just to be in his presence and see his face was the greatest gift.
“So, you finished it? I like it,” the girl smiled and entered the studio, as Luke performed the last accords of a song he showed her just few days ago. The band mates left to order food, but Luke decided to stay for a little longer.
“Sure, you do,” he chuckled and annoyingly leaned the guitar against the wall.
“I… do like it,” Luke’s coldness in a voice took Y/N by surprise, so she stumbled. “You think I’m lying?”
“Listen, I don’t want to talk about it,” he jumped from a couch and hurried up to leave, but the girl caught his hand.
“Luke… Did I say something wrong? I’m sorry, I just—“
“It’s nothing, really. Glad you liked the song. I just thought you’d be less delusional about it.”
Y/N felt like chills run all over her body, while she was looking at Luke’s blue eyes.
“Wait,” she swallowed. “Was this song about me? Us?…"
“Oh, so you finally figured it out?” he chuckled again and rolled the eyes, crossing arms on the chest as if not believing that all that time Y/N didn’t understand it. And honestly, she felt ashamed for not getting it all along.
“Luke… I just thought it’d be… too much of me to think so, I thought that maybe it’s just some fiction or about someone else and—“
The guy covered her palm with his, interrupting.
“All the songs for the past month were about you, Y/N,” he shook his head. “How could you not realize that?”
“Maybe because you’re asking why I won’t love you?”
“And what about it?” the guy shrugged.
“Because I already love you, Luke. Always have, nothing has changed,” she looked down, whispering her confession.
The guy’s heart threatened to break a chest with such a rushed beating.
“I hold on to you and you hold on to me,” he whispered back one of the final lines of the song and smiled shortly, squeezing the girl’s hand in his. “I don’t like being without you, Y/N. I’ve tried, I just hated it.”
The girl sighed and simply hugged her angelic boy, resting a head on his chest.
“I hated it, too. And I want to hold on to you if you hold on to me…”
“Always,” he promised and left a short kiss on her temple.

NSB (Straud Legacy) Gen 9
Today's (7/31/2024) Episode: The Birthday Girl
The household was grieving Peachy’s departure for the afterlife, but time refused to stand still for those left behind.
The very next day was Noemi’s birthday. Fielding condolence calls and messages from friends and family wasn’t how they wanted to start her special day, but with Peachy having been opposed to “some fancy memorial shindig”, it was the best closure they could offer his loved ones.
Luigi’s baby made him miss his dada even more. Peachy had been so excited to help Skye try new activities and foods, but never got the chance. When Luigi found Noemi and Valentina in the nursery, celebrating his son sitting up for the first time, he had to work to suppress a strong wave of resentment.
Just a day earlier Peachy would have been able to enjoy the milestone with the rest of them… that boy of his couldn’t pick the right time for anything!
The unfortunate ending to Luigi’s birthday party had prevented Noemi from giving him the special gift she’d arranged.
Her old robotics club friend Kenzie had become a Computer Engineer, with access to computer glasses that only those in her field could craft. Gaming and computer enthusiast Luigi had been trying to find some for awhile and was overjoyed upon opening his fiancées cheerfully wrapped present.
“Happy belated birthday love,” she said as he excitedly slipped them on. Luigi gave his girl a warm thank you kiss, exclaiming:
“I’ve always loved how you just “get” me. Hopefully the big day and BIG gift I have planned for you will make you just as happy!”
The couples first stop on Noemi’s “party train” was a meetup with their island friends. The group had intended to take all the kids to enjoy “Family Funday” but as they were leaving Luigi got a text from Rhys telling him they’d discovered the event was geared towards older sims.
Deciding to skip the festival this time around the household met their friends at a nearby beach cabana instead, where the always unfiltered Beau saw Luigi and blurted out “You look ridiculous!” before a mortified Breanne could stop him. She quickly elbowed his mirth into a halfhearted apology.
Luigi knew the tech glasses looked odd but refused to show how the tactless comment had stung his pride and instantly tainted his joy. “Envy doesn’t look good on you friend.” he smirked instead before turning his emerald gaze pointedly to Isra and Rhys in greeting.
After shyly accepting everyone's happy birthday wishes Noemi settled in a quiet corner with a sleepy Skye while Luigi kept the conversation going.
Isra was happy to report that her 3rd trimester was progressing smoothly. When she asked if anyone else was planning to join her in having a second child, both Luigi and Noemi shook their heads. “Skye is quite enough for us. Besides, with your brood he won’t lack for playmates!”
Overall, Luigi was glad his and Isra’s relationship had worked out like it did. He was quite happy with one child and, clearly, she wouldn’t have been.
Beau spoke up then “well his highness might be one and done, but if all goes well Bruce will be getting a little brother or sister soon”, explaining that he had an appointment scheduled for another insemination attempt. As everyone wished them luck Luigi glanced at his friend's elder wife with concern. He hated to imagine any kids going through what he had losing his papa, but he couldn’t think of anything to say that wouldn’t offend Beau.
When they finished up at the beach the pair made a quick stop at the house to drop Skye off with his grandma before grabbing a teleport to Chestnut Ridge. It was finally time to get his birthday girl that extra “BIG” gift, the horse he’d promised her the evening they got engaged.
Amaya met them at the park just outside the exhibition center, wrapping Noemi in a big hug and exclaiming “Happy, Happy Birthday pretty momma! Are your ready to go pick out your new best friend!?” At her enthusiastic “let’s do this!” the girls headed inside the center while Luigi hung back to play with his new toy while he waited, telling them “I know nothing about horses, so I’ll leave this to you two experts.”
A surprisingly long time later the ladies finally emerged, although the horse trailing behind them wasn’t quite as large as he’d imagined.
Noemi introduced the tiny foal: “This little guy is Roach – I thought you’d appreciate the name”. Luigi chuckled “You thought right.”
“Are you going to grow up to be as faithful and sturdy as your namesake?” he asked the soft nosed creature as he gently stroked it, mimicking the animation from one of his favorite videogames. “Look” he grinned, turning to Noemi “gaming skills DO translate to the real world sometimes!”
Amaya took Roach back to her ranch to wait on his new parents while Luigi and the birthday girl enjoyed a nice romantic walk. The teleporter wasn’t far, but taking a less direct route gave them more time to enjoy each other’s company and the lovely summer evening.
Finally arriving at Amaya’s ranch, they were met by Valentina and Skye. While oohing and aahing over each others tiny offspring Luigi convinced Miguel that his little Greyson simply must have a kitty companion, and he just happened to have the perfect kitten for the job….!
Finally, Valentina pulled out the uneaten cake crafted by Peachy with love the day before and lit fresh candles. Noemi wished to stay healthy, FINALLY start her new career, and get back in shape as she blew them out and spun her way into the next life stage in front of her friends and family.
It had been a wonderful day and she looked forward to many more with her two favorite boys by her side.
For anyone not familiar with the reference, Roach is named after the faithful steed of the main character in The Witcher videogame series.

Chapter 5.... ough...

CWs include : mentions of illness, disordered eating, death, and addiction
AO3 Version is here!
Tumblr version below the cut:
Over a year had passed since that Winter Star party. Marnie had hoped dearly that it was just a matter of Shane needing some time to cool off and think before talking again. The boy could be like that sometimes, go off sulking for a bit before he came back to act like an adult about things. But this time was different. Conversation went from near daily calls to maybe twice a week, then once, then the occasional text, and then nothing.
Shane hadn’t responded to any of her messages or calls in six months now, completely cutting off his life from Marnie. The poor woman just couldn’t understand why. She tried to, she truly did. Even though she knew she’d get no response, she’d attempt to talk to him anyways, letting him know she was still there for him. Even if he wasn’t willing to speak, she wanted him to know she still cared. But seeing that ‘delivered’ status on every single message, a reminder that he wasn’t even reading them, it just punched a hole through her heart.
She raised that boy for over 20 years now, treated him like her own son, put his needs and wants above her own. It wasn’t like she saw it as something that he needed to repay, but would it hurt to just speak to her once in a while? Did he understand how much it hurt for him to purposely rip her away from the last family she had in this world?
She began to think that she was the problem. Maybe if she had just reacted differently that night, had talked it out then, then maybe things would be different. Maybe Shane and Jas would still be in her life. But then again, she had every damn right to be angry at him that night and she knew it. Replaying those words in her head, being told to ‘shut the fuck up already’ , oh it made her blood boil. Going to bed to sleep on it was probably the best decision at that moment, but it didn’t make the outcome any better. Why would he just cut off all interaction, why did he just leave without a word and never explain why?! There were so many questions, and Marnie had the gut feeling she’d never get the full answer.
Sitting at her usual stool in the saloon, she stared down at the reflection in her wine glass, seeing just how tired she looked. Running the ranch was hard, but having the support of her little family made it easier. She didn’t have that anymore though, she had nothing. Yoba, she was a mess nowadays.
“Yer not lookin’ good, Marn,” Pam frowned, sliding in closer towards her friend, “What’s buggin’ you now?”
Marnie just shook her head, taking a hefty swig from her cup, “I’m fine, really.”
Pam sighed in a frustrated tone. It was so obvious something was wrong. When she had gone to see Marnie the day after the party, she was obviously distraught, and she’d been upset nearly everyday since. Even still, she insisted she was ‘just fine’, and pushed through each and every day.
“I’ll tell you this much, that stubbornness runs in yer fam’ly,” Pam scoffed, motioning aimlessly with her hand, “If I had a 100g note fer every time I heard one of ya’s tell me yer fine I could be livin’ in a damn mansion ,”
Marnie breathed out through her nose, closing her eyes tight, “It’s just… That boy, he… Oh I don’t know what to do with him anymore.”
“Has he still not talked to you?” Pam looked shocked, shaking her head disappointedly, “Marnie yer a damn saint, I’d never put up with that shit… Lemme tell you, if my Penny ever pulled somethin’ like that there’d be hell to pay.”
“Was I too harsh with him….? I just wanted to help! He needed a wakeup call, I just-” Marnie held her head in her hands, groaning in frustration. She looked up to the man behind the counter, “Gus, what would you do if you were me?”
The barkeep knit his brows together in concern, gently wiping down a glass as he spoke, “I don’t have kids but… I think you’ve done all you can. You can only do so much once they’ve left the nest, right?”
Pam slammed down her bottle, raising a brow, “If you ask me she’s too damn soft on ‘im!”
“He’s been through a lot…” Gus reminded her, giving Pam a knowing look.
“Ain’t we all!” Pam protested, throwing her hands up. She turned and pointed to Marnie, “Look, you got a nice enough boy, Marn. But ya gotta put your foot down at some point. March up to the city ‘n tell ‘im to come home, drag ‘im by the ear if you have to!”
“I just get so… angry with him,” Marnie grumbled, looking to Pam with such an exasperated look, “Is it too damn much to ask that he takes care of himself when he has a kid?! I put myself through hell and back to raise him, I did everything to keep myself together for him, why is he so-!” she slammed her head down onto the table, grumbling angrily, “Pam… I’m so furious…”
“Whuff, if it’s got Saint Marnie swearin’ up a storm, you know it’s bad,” Pam chuckled, trying to lighten the mood. Marnie turned her head just enough to show her scowl. Pam smiled apologetically, “Sorry…”
“Eugh… Another one, Gus.” Marnie mumbled, motioning to her glass and letting her hand slump to the table pathetically. He made a face, looking to Pam of all people for help. She nodded in silent understanding, pulling the glass away from her.
“Listen Marn, if yer makin’ me look sober, you should prob’ly stop for the night,” she suggested, genuine concern in her tone, “Besides… it’s makin’ you look a smidge hypocritical there, mm?”
“Yoba, I hate when you’re right…” Marnie complained. She turned her head to rest her cheek on the table, looking at Pam, “You’re a good friend, you know,”
“Ain’t I just,” Pam sighed, “C’mon now, I’m takin’ you home.”
The pair trudged back to the ranch, Marnie completely silent as Pam rambled on about the day, “Penny tried to make me breakfast today. She tries, bless her heart, but she’s terrible Marn,” she chuckled, “How do you burn and undercook an egg?”
She saw her attempt at lightening the mood had fallen flat once again, that same blank stare on Marnie’s face. Pam wrapped an arm ‘round her back, squeezing her shoulder tight, “I’m sorry, Marn… I hate seein’ you like this...”
“I feel like a failure… ” Marnie mumbled, “Was I really too soft on him? Should I have been harsher?”
Pam pursed her lips, thinking for quite a bit, “Remember back in college, when we first started dormin’?” she asked, “You were the shyest little thing, sweet too. You put up with all my bullshit and I never understood why…”
Marnie raised a brow, “Where are you going with this?”
“What I’m sayin’ is it’s yer nature to be sweet and soft. Ain’t a flaw, ain’t anythin’ bad. Showin’ your family love like that, that’s somethin’ to be admired.”
The two stopped to look over the river, giving them a quiet moment. Marnie never knew Pam to be the introspective type, but she appreciated little moments like this. Pulling her shawl tighter over her shoulders, she looked over the rippling water, “What do you think I should do?”
“Distract yerself. Get back into a hobby! Do somethin’ fun!” Pam grinned, “How long’s it been since you touched a hook or needle?”
“Weeks…” Marnie huffed, “Maybe a month or two. Haven’t had much inspiration lately, I suppose.”
“Can I inspire you with some cash? It’s gettin’ cold, and Yoba knows we ain’t got proper heat in that trailer. Me n’ Penny could use a cardigan or two.”
“I’m not charging you Pam, you’re my friend.”
“Bull shit you’re not chargin’ me! Name a price,”
Marnie scoffed lightly, “Just come over sometime to talk, it’s been a while. I’d accept that instead.”
“I’d do that anyway, Marn, that ain’t any compensation. Just you wait, you’ll find some extra g in yer purse when you least expect, and I ain’t takin’ it back,”
A small, soft smile found its way onto Marnies face, a quiet, soft chuckle escaping her, “Thank you… for trying to make me feel better,”
“Aww there she is!” Pam squeezed her a little tighter, “Been missin’ that laugh,”
She looked over to the path leading into the woods, “Think it’s time for you t’ head home now. You ranchers gotta be up with the sun, or somethin’ right?”
“Somethin’ like that,” Marnie shrugged. She pulled Pam into a hug, “Again, thank you.”
“Heh, don’t mention it,” Pam mused, giving her a firm pat on the back, “And listen, if I ever see yer boy I’ll give him an earful for you, okay?”
“Pam…”
“Seriously, Marn…” Pam sighed, Lemme know if there’s anythin’ I can do. Can’t take seein’ you mope around like this.”
“I will, I promise.”
The women waved each other off for the night, heading in opposite directions towards their homes. Closing the door behind her, Marnie swiftly made her way to her room, resigning herself for the night.
The crickets outside the window chirped loudly as Marnie readied herself for sleep. Sitting at her vanity in her nightgown as she combed through her hair, staring off into space as she let her mind wander. She looked over to the framed photo sitting right next to her mirror, sighing softly. It was old and faded, the colors worn from age. She and her sister were merely young teens in it, sitting high atop the ranches fence, posing in a silly fashion as their father took their photo. They looked so happy and carefree, giggling about something she couldn’t remember, hugging each other tight. Marnie missed it so much.
“I don’t know what to do with your boy, Mona,” she huffed, biting a lip in frustration, “He gets it from you, you know. That damn stubbornness. Like mother, like son, neither of you knew when to get help.”
Placing down the comb, she took the photo into her hands, rubbing a thumb over the wood frame, “I’m afraid he’ll end up like you , that I’m going to get that call and… I don’t think my heart could take burying him too. And then I’d have to take in Jas… I’m getting too old to raise another child…”
“You would’ve known what to do, you were always the smart one…” tears bit at her eyes, lips pursing tightly as she fought back crying, “I feel like such a failure… ” her voice grew angry, but at who she didn’t know, “Why’d you have to die on us? Why couldn’t you just accept my help? I told you I’d come home to help you!”
Her mind fled back to her days as a young woman, far before tragedy had fallen upon her family. Marnie wanted so badly to be an artist back in her youth, to travel around the Ferngill Republic and join exhibitions and artists guilds. Mona was her biggest fan, encouraging her sister each and every day to chase that dream.
Their father had made it clear that at least one of them had to take over the ranch one day, harping on the importance of it to their family history and tradition. It left the girls in a tough spot. Both of them had big dreams, but only one could achieve them. Mona wanted to be a doctor someday, to be someone who could help others. She’d been hoping to study under the doctor who was living in town at the time, actually. But seeing how excited and passionate Marnie was about her talents made her repress those dreams, and accept the responsibility laid out for her. Her sister’s happiness was a priority to her, even if it meant sacrificing her own.
Marnie would go on to be accepted at a great institute with an amazing arts program. She made important connections, met Pam for the first time, and she was truly thriving. She never felt more alive than she did in the city, feeling like for the first time she was reaching for the stars, and could actually touch them. She had no clue how much the opposite it was for Mona until it was getting to be too late.
The poor woman was struggling. Raising a baby on her own, running the ranch as the sole owner, having little social life and few relationships because of how much time everything in life soaked up. It was taking a toll on her mind and body, a very noticeable toll. She was barely 28 when her hair began to gray, growing sicker and frailer by the day. Marnie had gotten into a huge blowout fight with her over it, concerned more than anything for her sister's health.
The fight wasn’t too unlike the one she had with Shane, actually. It was eerily similar actually, happening in the same spot in the house and all. She vividly remembered Mona yelling at her to ‘drop it already!’, assuring she was fine when the opposite was clearly true. She all but forced Marnie to go back to college, to finish her degree and fulfill her dreams, leaving the ranch to her. Mona had sacrificed so much for her, and she wasn’t going to let her give up in the homestretch like that. She would die mere months after that fight, the stress quite literally killing her. Marnie had to come home after all, giving up her dream to take over the family business, to raise Shane along with it.
She’d been a mess back then, a broken, miserable mess. Pam had chastised her for being ‘too soft’ on Shane through this, but she remembered how desperately she needed someone to have been there for her, and she never wanted him to feel that pain too. But now, he was inflicting it on himself, and there was nothing she could do about it. Nothing to do but pray.
She closed her eyes, silently begging Yoba to keep him and Jas safe, to allow him to come back home where he belonged. Her faith had been slipping from her the past year, growing weaker by the day, but she still held on tight to that hope that Yoba would hear her, that they would watch over and protect them.
“ Wherever they are…” she thought, “ Let them be safe and well.”
- - - - - -
“I told you, I don’t have it.”
“I don’t care, Yoder. I have given you three extensions, three! I’m not running a charity here!”
Shane rubbed his eyes, leaning against the doorway to his apartment, “Look, I get paid tomorrow morning. Can I give you the rent then? It’s the best I can do, Rich.”
The older man huffed, closing his eyes and shaking his head, “I… fine. Fine. But only because of her.” He pointed through the doorway to Jas, who sat at the kitchen table, “I don’t want to have to throw a kid out on the streets, and I’m sure you don’t want that either. Have it to me by tomorrow and we’ll be fine.”
“Thank you…” Shane breathed, feeling the relief flood him, “Seriously, thank you.”
“If it’s not in my hands by 5 tomorrow, you’re done, ” Rich warned, “No more extensions, no more forgiveness. I’m serious, Shane.”
“I know… Thank you.”
“And clean out your mailbox, would you? It’s overflowing.”
Shane reluctantly looked at the overstuffed box, nervous to even glance at the bright red lettering on the envelopes screaming “OVERDUE” at him. He’d maxed out just about every credit card he could get, paying insane amounts of money each month, going into the red over it at times. Rent had gotten higher after the new year, leaving him with less and less money to afford the important things. Life was expensive, raising a kid was expensive, everything just piled up. His landlord had tried to be understanding, giving him many extensions and breaks over the past year. But his generosity was running thin, and Shane could tell. He couldn’t blame him either
He ripped the letters from the mailbox, shuffling through them as he made his way to the table. Jas sat with her head resting on one hand, making a face as she poked her tv dinner with a fork.
“Jas, honey, stop playing with your food,” Shane scolded lightly. Jas whined and gave him a pout, “It smells funny…”
“You need to eat something , come on.”
“Why can’t I have something else?”
“We don’t have anything else.”
“Whyyyy?” Jas grumbled, scrunching her nose as she speared a soggy vegetable with her fork.
“We can’t afford it, Jas,” that much was true. Actually, Shane couldn’t even afford this anymore. He was blessed in a way to have that stocking job. As wages stagnated and costs raised, Shane found himself with less and less money for necessities, including groceries. He’d often slip items in his bag after hours, becoming a bit of a ‘borrowing’ pro over the past few months. It was risky, and he could never take too much during a shift, but it was working for now.
Jas furrowed her brow, giving him a look, “Why aren’t you eatin?”
Shane shrugged, giving her a smile, “Heh. Don’t need to. Uncle Shane doesn’t get hungry.”
“You’re being silly!” Jas laughed, “Yes you do!”
“Nah, it’s a superpower I got! You just worry about your own dinner, okay?” “Okay…” Jas finally gave in, shoveling the freezer burnt food in her mouth. It didn’t taste as bad as she thought it would, more bland than anything, a twinge of that stale freezer-taste to it. It was to be expected of such a cheap meal. She swallowed a bite and looked back up to her godfather, “I wish I didn’t get hungry...”
Shane’s smile crumbled, replaced with a look of deep guilt. He opened his mouth to respond, but couldn’t find the appropriate words to say. He wanted to apologize for being such a terrible guardian, for letting her down again and again. Making sure she didn’t know just how bad things were was his top priority. The last thing he wanted was for her to have to worry about that, about things a 4 year old should never have to think about. He was supposed to be responsible, he was supposed to shield her from that reality. And he was trying his best, he truly was… but it was getting more and more difficult.
Jas had noticed, and she had for a while. She noticed when the pantry and fridge got emptier and emptier as time went on, when envelopes with big red letters would come in and make him look stressed, when he’d cry when he thought she wasn’t looking, when he started eating very little at meal times, and eventually not eat at all. He’d been getting so thin . He looked so sick and exhausted every day, his hair beginning to gray before he even reached his 30’s. But even with all of it, he gave her a smile, and told her everything was okay.
Jas pushed away the dinner, “Can I go play now?” Shane nodded, “Go have fun,”
The little girl hopped away from the table, running to grab her dolls and sit under the blanket fort she’d made by the tv early this afternoon. Putting on a show in the background, she began to act out a story with the toys, off in her own little world.
As soon as Shane was sure she wasn’t paying attention to him, he pulled the leftover dinner close to him, eating every last bit of what Jas left behind, even the parts he hated . It wasn’t even close to a full meal, but it quieted the growling in his stomach just enough to let him focus on something else. He felt a deep pang in his soul as he ate, a feeling that encompassed many an emotion; embarrassment, rage, grief. He couldn’t even begin to describe the feeling of self-loathing he felt right now.
Throwing the trash into the adjacent can, he sneakily opened the fridge and lifted a can from the shelf. Beer was one of his riskier items to steal, and the most embarrassing. Yoba, Marnie was right about this being an addiction. He hated that it took this long to admit. He just wanted to dump it down the drain, to say ‘no more’ and make a change for the better. But every time he tried, it never worked for more than a few days. Withdrawal would kick in, an itching pain growing beneath his skin, a deep, animalistic urge to grab another can clawing at his mind. He hated it, he hated himself for it, but he just couldn’t stop.
The one good thing about eating so little was that the alcohol got to him quicker. Drinking on a near empty stomach made him get drunk faster, meaning he went through less cans. It wasn’t healthy still, not by any means, but it certainly was better than normal. It was how he justified it to himself, something he lied to himself with to make himself feel the slightest bit better about all of this.
He jolted as a buzz rang through his phone, the vibration moving it a few inches across the table. There was just a single notification, a ‘goodnight’ text from Marnie. He reached out for his phone, stopping just before his fingers touched the case. Something wouldn’t let him grab it, wouldn’t let him respond. He desperately wanted to call her, to cry and beg for her forgiveness, to ask for help. But his pride held him in a chokehold, refusing to release him for even a moment.
He didn’t mean for it to get this bad. He didn’t mean to sever those ties with Marnie. Initially he just needed time to recoup from the embarrassment of what he’d done that night, what he said. But eventually, he became more and more ashamed to face her, to tell her the truth of what was happening. He was flat broke, an exuberant amount of g in debt, unable to afford basic necessities, barely making rent even with extensions, and deep in the throes of addiction.
He was drowning, and he didn’t want her to know. He felt like an absolute failure of a father, a nephew, and a person. He couldn’t bear to face her. Even when he felt ready to, this gnawing guilt in his mind told him to stay away. He’d ignored her for so long already, she must despise him at this point. That’s what he believed, anyway. He felt it was too little, too late to save that bond, and decided the only course of action from here was to just leave it severed.
Looking out at Jas, he knew something needed to change, for her sake. Oh if her parents could see him, he knew they’d despise him now, just like he believed Marnie did. It was a mistake for them to entrust him with Jas, to give such a screw-up like him such a big responsibility. He couldn’t forgive himself for how bad things were, for how bad he let it get. When would he just swallow his pride and run back home already to get help? It would take a miracle, or a disaster, to get him to do so, that much was certain.
He still didn’t believe in Yoba, but just this once, he made an exception. Bowing his head and folding his hands, he thought a silent prayer.
“If you’re real… Please let Marnie forgive me.”

ZEcret Santa Fic
To: @oobi-oobi
From: @classycorgiposts
Prompt: The cast of 999 keeping up with each other after the events of the game
Me: First text to make sure I have everyone’s number.
Clover Field: Got it!
Light Field: Received
Junpei Temyouji: No issues here
Ichiro: Here
Lotus shot Seven a withering look from the seat next to him. “I *know* I have yours, idiot.”
“Yeah yeah, my bad.” He rolled his eyes.
Me: Good. Is everyone doing ok? Big lug and I are at the airport waiting on the flight now
Clover: lmao
Clover: All good here! Light and I will be getting back home soon
Lotus: Got it. Stay safe, and like that Alice woman said, if anything weird at all happens, get in touch
Junpei: Ok mom
Lotus: I’m serious
Junpei: allright, I got it
——————————————-
The moment Hazuki stepped off the plane and saw her daughters, it was like a valve opened and the turbulent emotions she’d been experiencing since the Nonary Game came pouring out, breaking her cool demeanor she’d put on for the others. Seven watched as she burst into tears and ran across the lobby, pushing her way through the crowd towards her daughters, who barreled into her arms, sobbing with joy in return.
Standing off to the side so as not to interrupt the moment, Seven pulled out his phone.
Seven: Back in Japan. Hazuki’s girls met us here- all good
Responses came within moments.
Light F.: Wonderful news.
Clover F.: SEND PICS
Junpei T.: Awesome, good to hear
Clover F.: I SAID SEND PICS
——————————————-
Sitting on the couch in his apartment’s living room, Junpei’s leg bounced up and down nervously as he watched a TV special on the news about the arrest of Cradle Pharmaceuticals CEO and the liquidation of the company. His apartment felt emptier than it had before.
Me: You guys see the news?
Snake: Listening to the report as we speak.
Seven: Took longer than it should have for this to have gone public. Cradle run hospitals here in Japan have been in disarray, they’re almost certainly gonna shut down.
Since his return home, he’d felt restless and anxious. A nervous energy coursed through him at all times with no outlet. Kanny and Aoi were gone, and all the others he could talk to about the Nonary Game were far away.
Junpei: Any leads on them yet?
Seven: I already told you I’d let you know as soon I found something, calm down kid
Seven: I’m doing the best I can, but without some kind of lead to follow, it’s near impossible. Akane and Aoi completely took themselves off the map
Sighing, Junpei continued watching the news. He needed to do something. Anything.
——————————————-
Running his hands along the desk in his study, Light felt the sounds and vibrations of the small army of groundskeepers working on maintaining the gardens and forest outside their family’s manor.
“So what’s going on?” Lotus’s voice came over the phone. “It’s unusual for you to need help,”
“So you say. I apologize again for the sudden call, but it’s our mother. Put frankly…she’s become tyrannical.” Light sighed. “She’s kept a close eye on us both since my accident as a child of course, but since we’ve returned home, Clover and I haven’t had a moment’s peace. We’re hardly ever allowed to leave the house, and her paranoia over something happening to us again grows day by day. The kicker is that we’re even particularly close emotionally.”
“Hmm. Let me talk to her.” Lotus declared after a moment’s thought. “Mother to mother.”
———————————————
“Your mom did what!?” Junpei said in disbelief. Sitting up in bed, he’d been awakened by a sudden call from Clover, groggily listening as she angrily vented on the phone.
“Yeah, bodyguards! How insane is that!? My brother tried talking to my mom as his soon a bunch about letting us be even a *bit* independent, but nothing worked, and there was no way she was gonna listen to me. But then Lotus tried to talk to her and she went completely ballistic, ranting about ‘dangerous strangers’ and us just being stupid kids!”
A sudden notification while she was ranting caused Junpei’s head to swim.
“Holy shit…I just got a huge amount of money sent to my bank account!
“What?” Clover gasped. “You think…it’s them? It’s gotta be, right?”
Junpei’s mind raced. “Hang on- I’ve got an idea.”
———————————————
Seven stood in his office with Junpei on speaker, in front of a cork board with countless photos, cut outs of internet articles, and maps connected by bits of string. It might’ve been cliche, but damn if it didn’t help with seeing the big picture from pieces of a case.
“You getting close to their estate?” He asked.
“Yeah, almost there. You know, I was really confident about this at first, but I’ve been getting nervous the closer I get. My palms are all sweaty.”
Junpei was on his way to the Field estate in a car he’d bought with the large amount of money that had been mysteriously deposited into his bank account from an unknown source.
“Man, I still feel weird about helpin’ with this too…” Seven mumbled halfheartedly. “But their mom’s basically holdin’ them hostage.”
“Right.” Junpei’s voice hardened. “
“If they manage to slip out and follow the route we planned, that is.
“They will.” Junpei’s voice grew confident. “They’ve got this.”
———————————————
Sprinting through the carefully tended forest in the pitch black of night, leading her brother and Junpei by the hand, Clover still couldn’t help but laugh with elation. The confused shouts of the bodyguards tearing apart the estate they’d managed to give the slip after days of careful planning with Junpei, Lotus, and Seven were incredibly satisfying.
She left behind a cutting note for their mother, so at least she’d know why they left, and that it was extremely of their own accord this time. The money Junpei had randomly received was a lead- one that Lotus and Seven could follow to the Kurashiki siblings. They’d meet with Junpei, hitch a flight to Japan to reunite, and then…Clover didn’t know. But it was a future full of possibility.
“Clover, I hear a vehicle.” Light said. “Is that him?”
A moment later, Clover heard the sound of tires. Just as they exited the dense forest behind their estate on a remote back road, a sedan screeched up the back road, and disheveled Junpei threw open the doors. “Holy shit, it actually worked- you got out.”
“Let’s talk later!” Helping Light into the back seat, Clover hopped into the passenger seat, quickly hugged Junpei, then threw on her seat belt.
“We can catch up shortly.” Light said, hardly out of breath. “For now, we should make ourselves scarce.”
“On it!” Junpei stepped down on the accelerator, and they were off. “I’m still getting used to this car, so sorry if the ride’s bumpy! I haven’t had to drive in a while!”
“I’m sure it can’t be any worse then Clover’s driving back in Nevada.” Light said wryly, a bittersweet expression on his face as they got further and further from home. Junpei may have brought up the plan for them to run away, but Light had been the one who heavily endorsed it and planned it out. It had been a necceasry evil, for him and Clover both.
“Rude!” Clover grinned. The adrenaline of escaping from the prison of her home still coursing through her, Clover stuck her head out the window and laughed, the wind blowing on her and the trees passing by in a blur.
A future of freedom, of searching for the truth with the only people she trusted, was in sight.

How you ask Mamamoo out
Solar - She becomes an adorable mess
You'd liked Solar for a while now and admired so many things about her. How good a leader she was, how powerful her voice was, how loud and excited she got when playing a game and also how great a friend she was. She was always there when you needed her no matter her busy idol schedule and that's how you fell for her. All her members were aware of your crush on her and encouraged you to ask her out assuring you she would say yes but it took 3 months of them hyping you up for you to do it.
They'd even helped plan it for you and arranged for Solar to be in the practice room all ready for you when you "forgot your phone" and had come to look for it. Solar spotted you as soon as you walked in and shot you a big smile which made all her members smirk. You tried to pretend you hadn't seen them and smiled back at Solar. "Hey Y/n, what’s a nice girl like you doing here?" Solar called. That did make you blush but if you stopped what you were doing anytime Solar made you light headed you'd never get anything done. "I've lost my phone and I was in here rehearsing this morning" you said. Solar was immediately in leader mode "hmm well I haven't seen anything but let's search together yeah?". You thanked her and started looking in all the obvious places, the plug sockets, the corners, the mats etc. You felt slightly bad considering your phone was in your pocket but the members all gave you the thumbs up and conveniently left the room. After exhausting all the possible options Solar sighed "maybe it fell behind the sound unit? If you help me I bet we can totally move it" she said prepared to rearrange the studio for you but you stopped her. "No it's okay...I've been a few places so I'll have a look for it there". Solar nodded "do you need any help?". You shook your head "no I've wasted too much of your time already but I do have a question for you". Your heart was hammering in your chest but Solar just nodded "oh yeah? What is it?". You could feel yourself shaking and felt like it was 100 degrees in here but swallowed that fear and stared at the beautiful girl in front of you. "So I really like you, as more than a friend and was wondering if you'd maybe want to get dinner with me sometime?".
The few seconds before Solar responded seemed to go on for an eternity but when she responded it made it all worth it. Solar's eyes widened and then an unmistakable blush spread across her face and she stared at the floor unable to look at you. "Yeah I'd love that!" she said her voice breaking and she winced going even redder "I really like you too so would definitely want to do that...with you. On a date" she said mumbling and you couldn't believe 1. that she'd said yes and 2. that the unflappable leader was a blushing mess because of you! You always saw Solar as confident and cool but this was a totally new and unseen side. "Sorry" she said "I know I'm acting really uncool right now I've just been wanting to ask you for ages and I can't really believe this is happening". She was so damn adorable you took her hands and squeezed them "well it is, I think you're one of the kindest, smartest, most fun people I've ever met and I can't wait to pursue this with you". Solar went pink again but she nodded not looking away from your gaze "me too, I promise I'll be a great girlfriend...wait shit you didn't ask me to be your girlfriend just to go on a date dammit Solar! I'm sorry" she said to you and you laughed "Solar it's okay I love seeing this side to you". "You do? You're not regretting asking me out?" she asked and you shook your head "not for a second, so are you free Friday?". Solar nodded "yes" and you smiled "great I'll text you some places we can go" and waved goodbye. When you got out of the studio you both collapsed with huge goofy grins on your face.
Moonbyul - She thinks you're joking
Let's be honest Moonbyul was a woman magnet, so there was really no questions of if you'd fall for her but more when and the answer to that question was within 1 month of meeting her. You thought you were a pretty slick gay, you didn't panic over a pretty face and were calm and collected but then you met Moonbyul and that all changed. She flirted with you 5 times in your first meeting and although you calmly flirted back with her on the inside you felt like your legs were jelly. Every meeting with her was like that as Moobyul was the queen of flirting. All her members claimed she'd met her match in you because you did flirt back with her and the two of you had a very cheeky friendship. The only problem with that is, you weren't joking. You meant every word you said to her but Moonbyul didn't realise that and you were too scared to tell her until eventually one day it just slipped out.
You were over at Moonbyul's house getting ready to go out shopping when as usual you got sidetracked. Moonbyul's new single came out and she asked if you wanted to listen to it and of course you said yes. You loved when Moonbyul rapped but adored her singing voice and smiled the whole way through it. "So what do you think?" she asked "I wasn't sure how my voice came across because you know it's not as strong as the other girls...." when you cut her off. "Moonbyul, it was amazing". "Really?" she asked and you nodded "yep, the beat was great and the lyrics were so truthful and so many people are going to connect with them. Plus your voice is beautiful just like you are". Moonbyul pushed your shoulder and stood up to get her coat "can you stop joking with me for 2 seconds?". "I wasn't joking with you" you said and Moonbyul shook her head laughing. You were tired of pretending so you were finally honest.
"I'm being serious, I think you're very beautiful and I really like you" you said and Moonbyul paused. She had her back to you so you couldn't see her reaction but could see how tense her shoulders had become. "You do?" she asked and you nodded "yes, I've been serious this whole time but never worked up the courage to tell you...you've never been a joke to me Moonbyul". Moonbyul still hadn't turned around and you had no idea what was going through that pretty head of hers. "I understand if you don't feel the same way, that's totally fine" you assured her "I just wanted you to know". "No" Moonbyul said and your heart froze, when she didn't reply you prompted her "no what?". "No, I want you" Moonbyul said turned around and you saw the shocked expression on her face but also the big smile. "This was never just a joke to me either and I'd love to take you out some time". You grinned before shaking your head "take me out? I asked you out! Surely it's me who gets to take you out". Moonbyul smirked "technically you just said you liked me, not that you wanted to take me on a date so when people ask I get to say I was the one who asked you out" she said poking you in the shoulder. You shook your head laughing at her "you're unbelievable!" and she laughed "I know but you're the one with a crush on me" making you blush. Moonbyul wrapped her arms around you in a hug and you gave in hugging her back "I am the person with a crush on you" and Moonbyul giggled which was the nicest noise you'd ever heard. You vowed at that moment to make her as happy and laugh as much as you possibly could.
Wheein - You have to get through her members
Wheein was the fake maknae of the group and you were aware all her members treated her that way. You found it really sweet how they all rallied anytime she needed anything and took care of her however you never expected them to be so protective over Wheein when it came to you. You'd been friends with Wheein from pretty much the start as you both debuted around similar times and from there your friendship developed into a romance. You weren't very good at keeping secrets so planned to ask Wheein out but also knew her members well enough to know they'd want to know first. So you texted Hwasa asking if you could swing by on a day you knew Wheein was off filming and she said yes.
You walked into the studio and saw the 3 girls messing around while they were supposed to be rehearsing. "Y/n!" Solar cried "tell them two to stop messing around and actually do some work". You raised your hands "I'm not taking sides" and watched as they literally ran rings around Solar before calming down. "So what did you have to tell us?" Hwasa asked and you paused "I'm going to ask Wheein out". They all paused and you knew you'd done the right thing coming to them personally.
"You are?" Hwasa asked and you nodded "and I figured you might have questions". Moonbyul nodded "that's point 1 to you because yes we do, what are your intentions with Wheein?" she asked. You blushed "I just want to date her, to spend time with her and be around her more and see her smile". "Good answer" Solar nodded "and how do you plan to have a relationship while also being a busy idol?". You were expecting this one so nodded "well Wheein and I already have a successful friendship for a year while being idols. As you know we meet up regularly and I always respond to her messages within hours. I will make Wheein my priority and makes sure every day she at least hears from me virtually is not in person and of course I will discuss this with Wheein and make sure we have the same understanding about communication". "That is important" Hwasa admitted "finally, what are your plans for the future?". "For the future?" you asked and Hwasa nodded "do you plan on being an idol forever?". You thought about it for a few seconds before replying "I love singing and performing so would like to continue with my group for as long as we can but after that I'd like to step down from the spotlight and have a normal life. I'd like to move out of the city and settle down with some pets and just have a content country life". The girls all looked at each before nodding "okay well you've passed the test so we have no problem with you asking Wheein....". "Asking me what?" a voice called and you turned to see Wheein herself. "Wheein, I thought you had filming all day?" Solar asked. Wheein nodded "I did but then the director got called away on an emergency so we finished up and rescheduled. What's going on here? You look like you were interviewing y/n". "Well we kinda were" Hwasa admitted and Solar shot her a look. Wheein looked at you "Y/n? What did you want to ask me?". You blushed but shot her a warm smile "fancy getting a coffee from the canteen?".
Once you were refuelled Wheein turned to you with a concentrated expression on her face that let you know she wanted answers so you told her. "I'm here because I want to ask you if you'd like to go on a date with me". Wheein blinked "I'm sorry what?". "I like you Wheein" you said "and wanted to know if you want to be something romantic with me". Wheein blushed "I...but why did that involve my members?". You laughed "I know how protective over you they are so I thought I'd tell them first and answer any worries they had about me". Wheein's eyes widened "but they love you! I can't think of anyone better for me to go out with" before blushing. You smiled "they did approve but their opinion doesn't matter, only yours does. So what do you think? If you say no they'll be no awkwardness or hurt feelings. Absolutely no pressure". Wheein blushed "of course I want to go out with you!" and she reached across the table and took your hand. You both went pink as you stared at one another and then Wheein's eyes went to something behind your head and her smile froze "give me one minute, I have some members to kill for grilling you". She ran over to them and then ran after them when they fled knowing what was coming. You watched her track them down smiling to yourself because you'd got a date with that girl.
Hwasa - She makes your sweat
You were known for being the cool girl in your group but nobody could compare to the Queen of cool Hwasa. You'd met through the idol circuit and got pushed together often for your bold stage presence and confident looks. You'd interacted a lot in this way and naturally became friends. You soon realised that while Hwasa was also shy and cute, her confidence was authentic and wasn't an act at all. She was comfortable in herself and loved herself which was one of the most endearing things about her and a reason you fell for her. She was perfect in about a million different ways and you decided you couldn't keep your cool member card and NOT ask her out.
You had the whole thing planned out. You were meeting up to go out to see a movie and then go for a meal. You purposefully dressed up hoping to impress Hwasa but when you got to her house to pick her up she was dressed in a stunning red trouser-top combo. "Wow" you said as you got out of the car and Hwasa smiled "funny I was going to say the same thing about your outfit, your ass looks amazing in that dress". You blushed "thanks I thought I'd dress up a little tonight and great minds clearly think alike because you did too". Hwasa smiled "we're just perfect for each other aren't we?" making you go bright pink and all you could manage was to open her door for her. Hwasa was usually flirty but this was something else.
When you walked from the car to the cinema she entwinced your arms and you walked in together like a couple. Then during the film she asked if you could put your arm around her because she was struggling to get comfortable. You did as she said and she nestled into your neck and stayed cuddled up with you the whole film. Then on the drive to the restaurant she touched your leg when she got excited about some gossip she hadn't shared with you and then forgot to move it, keeping it there the whole way there. At the restaurant she kept complimenting you and when her food arrived she insisted you try it, even leaning across the table to feed it to you. So it was fair to say you were well and truly flustered and your plan had gone out the window.
As you were walking back to the car Hwasagrabbed your hand and a lady commented on how cute the two of you were. Hwasa smiled "my girlfriend is adorable isn't she" and carried on walking as if it was nothing. When you got in the car you turned to her "I...has something happened I don't know about?". Hwasa shot you an innocent look "no, why? Is something wrong?". "No just you've been different tonight". Hwasa tilted her head to one side "didn't you like it?". You blushed "I...I just want to know why you were acting like that, was it for fun or were you being serious". Hwasa smiled "of course it wasn't for fun dummy! I like you and Moonbyul might've let slip that tonight was the night you were finally going to ask me out!". You gasped "she didn't! I made her promise to keep it a secret". "Yeah but you picked the biggest blabbermouth so it's your fault really" Hwasa said laughing. "I can't believe you knew, so all night you were just testing my nerve huh?". Hwasa nodded "At first I just wanted to see if it was true, if you really did like me but after you blushed more than the embarrassed emoji I figured it was true and was just trying to encourage you". "You nearly killed me is what you did!" you cried and Hwasa chuckled "you still haven't asked me". "Yeah well maybe I won't after your games" you teased and Hwasa blinked back at you "you will especially after this" and she kissed you. In fairness Hwasa could do absolutely anything and you'd be near fainting but that kiss was amazing and when Hwasa pulled away you were seeing stars. Hwasa realised you were a little lost for words and stroked your cheek "y/n, will you go out with me?". That jolted you back into existence "but I thought you wanted me to ask?". "I did but you seemed like you needed recovery so I thought I'd ask, so what's the answer? Don't leave me hanging". You said yes of course.
